MS Forum and Health Expo

It's that time of year again for the MS Forum and Health Expo in L.A.  held on May 19th.  This is a great opportunity to meet some of the leading MS researchers in the field from the top MS centers in the US, and learn about the latest advancements in the field.  Admission is free, no RSVP required.

This team of doctors and researchers is funded by the Nancy Davis Foundation.  The major annual fundraising event to support it is the Race to Erase gala which is held the evening before the forum.  Both events are held at the Hyatt Regency in Century City, CA.

I've been lucky enough the past 3 years to attend both events and always have a great time, and appreciate learning from these doctors.  The talent at the gala isn't as great as in previous years (The Eagles in 2009, Heart in 2010).  The gala is very pricey so it's a little disappointing they weren't able to secure higher profile performers as in past years.  Lots of celebrities there, a few A list and many B/B+ list which makes the event quite fun.  I chatted up LaToya Jackson last year.  :)  So far I haven't met my favourite guy Bill Maher who always attends and is a big supporter of this cause, but someday!!

Unfortunately I won't be attending this year as I'll be travelling at that time, though I hope to be there next year for the 20th anniversary of this event.

Anyway I'd encourage anyone in the area to check out the Expo and Health forum, it's definitely worth a few hours on a Saturday morning.  This year Janice Dean will be there for the first time, and I'm disappointed to be missing her.  Teri Garr will be there again, love her!

Hey bubbles, so glad to hear you made it to the NDF forum and expo!  I am sorry to have missed out this year.  I've attended the previous 3 years and always learn something new.  On that note, as per Jane, was there anything in particular you took away from it that you could share with us?  Also, did they mention if they would be posting any video of it online?

Hey ladies! I was unable to go, which was a total bummer. I was looking forward to meeting Kat as much as I was looking forward to the expo. But my mom came into town so we had a full weekend of introductions to my fiance's family and wedding planning going on.

Kat, I'm stoked to hear that your hubby felt comfortable. Do any of the questions you heard stand out as memorable enough to share with the forum?

Best,
Jane

Hi all, sorry to reawake this thread but I went to the Forum and EXPO on sat! It was really great. My husband really enjoyed it too. We didn't ask any questions ourselves but lots of people asked some really great questions. My husband said it was really good for him because he felt very positive about the future after. With several people saying they have had MS for a long time but are still doing great and lots of new treatments coming out.

We will be going again next year :)

Jane, bubbles:  that's awesome....take lots of pics!!
You'll probably also see Loni Anderson (daughter has MS and she's a good friend of Nancy Davis) and Shemar Moore (mother has MS).  David Osmond (nephew of Donnie) has MS and is on the panel.  So is countrry singer Clay Walker.  If you don't know Janice Dean, she's a fellow Canadian and the does the weather for Fox.
The doctors from "The Doctors" tv show usuallly kick the thing off with all the intros,.  Wish I was going too!
