Scared,.. please help about my hearing.

It started happening a few days ago I started to get a high pitch ringing in my ear non stop.. at first i thought it was normal cause i know when its quiet that ringing gets in my ear. but now its all the time non stop and its getting really really scary.. I hope i dont got hearing loss but my older brother says i dont have it, and the rest of my family dont wanna hear it including him... so I took a warm shower and that did not help and i have drink water a lot of times and it still wont help. And before when i use to talk or hear music and what not it went away, but now if I hear anything I can still hear it and its hard to go to sleep with it.. i might be going to the doctor soon but i am hoping someone here will tell me what it could be or an answer or something i can try before going... sometimes it feels like my ear kinda hurts.. and the high pitch sound sometimes keeps getting louder than normal like now and its really scary. If you have this problem to please tell me so I know someone else haves it.

Hi ZP

I''m sorry that you are still havng problems. We are not doctors and so we can't diagnose what's wrong.

We are a collection of people who have MS, or are in the process of being diagnosed. What you describe does not sound lke MS to me, but 'm not a doctor.

I don't think we will be able to help you. I would urge you to speak with someone at school, most likely the school nurse about your symptoms and the truble you are having getting medical help.

It's really great that you've finally seen a doctor and had your ear problems checked out, ear wax build up is very common but it is definitely NOT SERIOUS!

You are obviously dealing with is very high levels of anxiety but IF you are a child seeking medical advice over the net, apart from this community not being right for the type of issue. The main problem is most adults regardless of if they are parent's or not, are understandably extremely uncomfortable and will ethically choose to avoid informing children of medical advice, products to try etc

The only help that i feel comfortable with, is advising you to talk to your mum, dad, a close relative or school counsellor and admit that even though you've seen a doctor, you are still very worried and stressed out every single day and you need someone to listen and do something to help you!

Please tell someone a home, how you are feeling!

Hugs..........JJ

How old are you?

I have absolutely no idea what your mum was talking about, it's probably just a misunderstanding and you are now unnecessarily worrying your self about something else because you're already feeling frightened.....

Truth is what you need right now to settle your building fears, and that means you really need to see a dentist to get that tooth checked out, it could be a simple filling or removal if it can't be saved. Keep in mind that not all cavities cause abscesses and even if it is an abscess, treatment is no big deal these days, its generally just cleaning out the infection and antibiotics prior to further dental work.

You also need to see your general doctor to get that ear checked out, if i understand this recurring habit of yours, you could be putting your ear drum under too much pressure and it could be causing you problems..............STOP DOING IT!

When you see your doctor, he will listen to what you experience and he/she will want to know about this habit too. A simple examination of your ears looking for infection, wax build up, damaged ear drum etc etc and what ever is found to be wrong, will get you the correct treatment plan needed to solve the problem.

If you find your self getting these worries stuck in your head, one trick that really helps is to do something to distract and interrupt it eg eg shooting hoops, reading a good book, dancing to up beat music, baking etc Try not to get stuck in the worry, make sure you seek medical attention and take care of your self.

Cheers........JJ

sorry if this is kinda long but i want you to read this...
well there is this habit i got.. its very hard to explain but i can do this thing with my ear or something in my head.. were it sounds like when is going out of my ear.. the more i can breath out of my nose the better i can do it. this is only with my right ear, not only that it really helps get bubbles away out of my right ear. and a few days ago my older brother told me that strains the ear if i keep doing that.. and i have a habit of doing it.. it feels like my ear starts to go quiet so i do that wind thing and it helps..  then like 4 days ago I started to hear that high pitch noise in my right ear non stop 24/7.. and its just getting more scaryer everyday.. my mom have to cut my hair because its matted and then my mom will make a dental appointment because she thinks i have an absast or however u spell it were like a cavity or rotten tooth is close to your gum.. cause my mom says if I have that then i could leek down to my heart and kill me and im very worried about that.. and im super worried about this hearing thing..

Hi, i'm not sure if you are aware but your question has landed in the MS community. I was going to have your post transferred over to the ear nose and throat forum but i've since noticed you've been posting similar questions on that forum already, so here's my two cents.........

For many months, you seem to be experiencing a few hearing issues and it is highly possible that it started from a common ear infection and because you haven't seen a dr and had it treated, the infection has simply worsened in that time and or if you have been using those ear buds to clean out your ears, it's inadvertently damaged the ear and made the situation worse.

Honestly, you need to see a doctor and get this checked out properly, it could be nothing much or something important, please don't risk your hearing because you want to know what it is before you seek medical help!

Good luck........JJ

Hi Z_P - Welcome to our group.

I'm sorry that you are having trouble with your hearing. We are an MS group and are not doctors. Some peopllllllllle with MS, including me, have tinnitus. Tinnitus is a constant ringing in the ears. Mine is a high pitched whine that is with me 24/7.

While tinnitus is fairly common in people with MS, it is rarely the only symptom. It is also not usually a primary symptom. At this point I think you should see your doctor as soon as you can. They should be able to help you get some answers.
