MS or anxiety?! Please help

Hello all,
For the past 4 weeks I have had the oddest sensation on the tip of my nose.  It feels like something is on my nose (on the outside), but trust me nothing is there!  The feeling went away for like 4 amazing days lol but its back.  I talked to my doctor about this and she thought it could be anxiety.

My other symptoms (that I didn't mention to my doctor b/c it had just begun the day before and I didn't think much of it is I have been getting tingly feelings on my arms and torso.  Kinda like that feeling you get when you think a bug is on you, but you brush it off and it goes away.  Well I am getting this feel numerous times a day.  I rub the area and the feeling goes away.  The weirdest part is, it only happens under my clothing.  For example if I am wearing short sleeves, I barely feel it, but long sleeves annoy the hell outta me.

I feel crazy, I worry I have MS :( or worse...

Some background...
I had a clean MRI 8/9 months ago.
I am going through a really stressful time.  Planning a real wedding in 3 months and moving 3 hours away once I get married in a month.

Please everyone, can you help me

Thank you for the answers.  I am going to try and push MS out of my mind.  Hopefully these symptoms will subside after the wedding and big move.  I appreciate your expertise thus far.  Thanks all.

If know you already deal with an anxiety disorder (health or general?) and you are aware that you are "obsessing" over the sensation, if it's MS etc then there is going to be the 'potential' for this to be anxiety related.

It can be very easy to blame things on mental health, regardless of if you have a prior history or not but if you think about.......if it usually happens after/during highly stressful situations and or if it usually gets worse after you've notice it and or if the more you think about the sensation the worse it becomes and or if it goes away when distracted, busy, thinking about other things, having fun etc..... it will probably help towards giving you a better idea on if anxiety, is actually the more likely explanation for what's going on or not.

If any of it does rings some bells, try looking into what helps you manage your anxiety during this very exciting but stressful time in your life and things should start to improve as your anxiety gets better......

Cheers.........JJ

ps i would still consider an allergic reaction, my son has both (anxiety and allergies) and he's less tolerant and more seems more anxious when his skin allergy is driving him nutzoid, at least it can't hurt to cover all the basics :D

I had an mri 8/9 months ago due to an odd headache/ head sensation (in the temple area). It had been going on for a few months so my doctor ordered an mri that came back normal. The head sensation eventually subsided I've been feeling pretty good ever since. .. well until now lol. I do have anxiety issues and I'm obsessing over this.  I saw my doc today who did a brief neuro exam,  and thinks it's all anxiety.

Why did you have a MRI to begin with (months ago?) What was the cause of the Dr ordering that?

Congratulations on your wedding to be.  I'm sure it is a stressful time.  I hope your once in a life time day goes splendid and wish you and your future to be husband the best in life!

Paresthesias is an abnormal sensation but can be a simple as anxiety (ie: around mouth, hands and feet) due to hyperventilation, (nose...not so much lol) or low vit b12. There are other causes too with paresthesias ie: diabetes...but I dont know your medical history.

Apparently, you had a MRI for a reason 8/9 months ago as you stated and here you're posting that within 4 weeks, you've had these symptoms.

I'm curious now. :)

Welcome to the forums!!!!

Hope everything is better by now.

Thank you... I was thinking it could be something like that but there is not visible skin rash/redness.  And nothing has really changed... I use dove soap and that's about it.  I just tried a scented one so maybe I should go back to the original.

Hi and welcome,

I have to agree with ess but also wanted to mention an idea for you to consider.... could it be an allergic reactions to something recently introduced eg body washes, moisturiser, perfumes, shampoo and conditioners, washing detergents, sun screen, fake tan etc?  It doesn't sound like it's a neurological issue to me, more like a reaction to something and the clothing contact is irritating it more, anyway it might be worth using hypo-allergenic and see if it helps.

Cheers...........JJ

PS. Have a great wedding!

Hi there.

Well, of course I don't know anything about your medical history, so would not want to hazard a guess. But just from my own experience, I'd say that if some sensation goes away when I rub it, it's not my MS acting up. It'd be great if that happened though.

You do have a lot to be anxious about. In your shoes I'd just wait and see if it all goes away once married and settled. Can't hurt, anyway.

Best wishes!

ess
