Sorry, it's the formulation- not the flavor that is most bioavailable.  (At least it was, the last time I looked into it. You should probably check on it first.)

My husband's MRI sounds like it was similar to yours.  If you aren't having any memory issues, you are probably fine.  My husband had a T.I. A. (mini stroke), and he is okay.  Like everyone, get your cholesterol and blood pressure within healthy parameters.  Exercise your brain.  I read that the more new experiences you have, the better your brain will be.  These new experiences can even be in book form.  Get plenty of long-chain Omega three.  I like Coromega in the orange flavor best, and it's supposed to be the most bioavailable.

My neuro rehab specialist also recommends www.lumosity.com.  I haven't actually tried it yet though.  It's supposed to tailor the games and puzzles to your needs.

As for the brain atrophy, unless it's affecting an area of high usage, it probably doesn't matter.  We really don't use very much space in our noggins.  (Easiest to see this in rush hour traffic, and in sports arenas.)

Scattered ischemic damage such as your MRI report describes is usually connected with age-related lesion activity.  What this means is that you've had a series of very small strokes that have damaged your brain.  As a result, your brain has shrunk to fill in the holes.

When do you see your doctor?
