Sometimes these appointment are much too brief with the doctors and we are also trying to process whatever we have been told and overlook asking key questions. A phone call to this doctor's office might help but often that results in more delays. I am concerned about any doctor who doesn't give you a better explanation when telling you such a significant bit of information.
We suggest to everyone - I even still do this - that you make a list of questions and take that with you to the appointments. It is way too easy to forget to ask them in the moment of seeing the doctor.
Good luck with the steroids - do you know what they are? IV Solumedrol is the standard for MS treatment.

Well, disease means not a virus I. Never heard of the term inflammatory brain disease. I would ask the neuro specifically what type of brain disease you have.
Steroids are pretty standard protocol for inflammation in the body, including MS.
Not sure why neuro wasn't more specific but ask, ask, ask. It's your body!
Good luck!

Hi Clayton, after spending the last hour looking up inflammatory brain disease, I'm pretty confident that "inflammatory brain disease" is an umbrella term. I found a couple of books but most research articles where on specific conditions that fell under that term, and basically the term covers a lot of conditions eg viral, bacterial, meningitis, encephalitis, vasculitis, MS, ADEM etc
I even tried to pin it down a bit by using the IV steroid treatment plan but that seems to a standard treatment for 'inflammation' so it didn't really help narrow it down or point towards anything, sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
Cheers...........JJ
ps just a thought but have your called the neuro clinic?
Hi Clayton -
I'm not sure what he means by inflammatory brain disease. Did he give you any thoughts about what might be causing the inflammation?
