Hurray for my insurance co - yes you read that right!

As some of you may know I have foot drop and that is actually what lead to my MS dx.  Well my therapist suggested looking into the Bioness walking system which I did.  It is a device that stimulates the muscle in your leg that controls lifting the foot.  I wear an AFO and it is miserable.  Well got a call today that not only did my insurance co authorize the device - they are paying for the ENTIRE thing!  I am sitting here in shock - it is a major miracle.  I am so incredibly excited - something good from an insurance company!

Just wanted to share some good news for the end of the week!

Thanks for listening
Tracy

I am so excited to get the device this week - supposed to be here Thursday.  I will update everyone on how it works for me.  The trial with it was amazing I could walk unassisted around my PT facility and while that isn't out in the big bad world -  it was something especially since just the first time I had it on.

Keeping fingers crossed and a smile on my face!

Kudos to a company that reviewed the facts and recommendations and then did the right thing!!  And Kudos to YOU for recognizing what is good for you and then self-advocating to get it.

I'm hoping you too might be able to 'do a little dance' once you have this device in hand (ok, on leg actually) and a little professional training.  Insurance approved the advanced FAstaire method didn't they?

All kidding aside, a guy gave me a close up look and demo of his similar devise a while back.  It was amazing the way it worked and how life changing it was for him.

Congratulations and good luck.

Wooo hooo! Doing a little dance for you!!!

I have had some pretty amazing insurance companies in the past. One was the approval for a very expensive portable nebulizer for my very sick asthmatic daughter. I already had one for my home and my daycare provider but needed one for my car or for trips.

Yay! :)

AWSOME Tracy!!!!!  My OT was suppose to check into that for me in September, but it "wasn't in his notes" so he 'forgot".  He said it would call BC BS while I was waiting, he came back in 3 minutes later and said they wouldn't pay ANYTHING because it is not a spinal injury.  I think he was lying and trying to cover his tush!    I will check with Neuro in August AGAIN!  Let me know how this works for you.  I am trying some Core excercises you told me about and would LOVE to be able to walk more normal too!  YEAH!!! SOOOO happy for you!  Now you will have to keep up with Jack!  LOL
