Need information after starting solu medrol

I have been prescribed iv solu medrol infusion for 3 days, but after my first dose today I noticed severe leg pain (aching), weakness and some swelling. Is this normal? I still have 2 more doses of the treatment. Has anyone else ever gotten the leg pain AFTER starting the medicine? Thank you.

Please take the advice of Alex. I did not pick up on what you had said clearly & assumed that you were talking about bilateral leg pain & swelling everywhere in your body. This was wrong of me & should have read your post correctly. My sincerest apologies.

Take Care,

Karry.

Any new leg swelling needs to be reported right away because of the risk of blood clots. You probably do not have blood clot but you can't ignore the leg just in case.

Oh I forgot to add that they can cause insomnia & restlessness in me.

Hi there,

I can say yes I have experienced these kinds of side effects from IVSM / Methylprednisolone. I also get some mood swings (teary), pain in my upper neck & shoulders & weight gain. I am aware that IVSM played with the hormones in your body including you blood glucose & sex hormones. Such a joy! ;-)

I do really recommend you discuss these problems with your Neurologist though because they can sometimes help with some of these side effects. I am also only a person living with RA & MS so I don't have any medical expertise. I hope this helps.

Good luck & take care,

Karry.
