Don't believe they are really gone until they stay away for a long time.... we will keep an eye on this , no pun intended, and stay in touch with the MedHelp folks about this problem. I believe this may be a case that they didn't think about it or didn't realize this could be such a problem.
My best,
Lulu
Thank you to ALL of you hard working CL's. Once again, you came through for us and we love ALL of you for it.
Big Hugs to our CL's. Our hero's!!!!
Heather
It seems like on the front page - where we see it most, they are GONE! Oh, I hope so! Thank you to the powers that be!
I still see them in the Inbox and on the profile pages, but I can deal with them there.
Q
It looks like somebody's done something - flashy-flashy skinny woman has gone away, and the NUVA-ring zoomy thing has too! Yay!
I've just been scrolling to the bottom of the page because it bothers me to have the movement in my peripheral vision. It's a relief not to have to do that!
Your fix works also - Great!! Thank you.
Quix
Wonko, you are so right about sneaking a peak during the day - that shrinking woman is a dead giveaway, especially on my oversized monitor!
All,
We (CL's) did get a reply of sorts this morning to our distress emails - we are told the person in charge of advertising is out of town but will be in touch upon return to the office! So keep using whatever works to block those stimuli and please stay with us while we try to work this out, ok?
My best to your all,
Lulu
I have a little semi fix.... Until they address the issue.
Minimize your explorer screen to just include the forum
posts.(the little box next to the X on the top right of the screen)
The screen can just border the wording. The go to the side of the screen
And shrink it.
You will have to use the scroll tabs on the right and bottom
of the page, but I had to do that long ago due to the flashing ads.
But it does help temporarily. Those ad things are so silly sometimes!
Cyn
And how 'bout those of us trying to "discretely" stop in to the site while at work?
That stupid animated eating disorder plauging the screen is not helpin'!
The answer is that none of us should have to "adapt" our screen because the advertisers truly do want us to move our eyes to their ads. If this were the only problem, then no biggie. But, the larger problem of
1) difficulty controlling our eye movements as with vertigo and nystagmus
2) nausea and visual fatigue from the too-busy environment
3) limited vision from optic nerve inflammation
4) hypersensitivity of inflamed nervous systems and seizures, though the frequency known to provoke a seizure is 6 per second. It still can make us feel nauseated, disoriented and fatigued just from its presence.
Lulu and I will let you know what MH's response is. I told them that things like this really will keep people off their site.
Quix
smart Quix's idea gives me another one - post it notes! They will stick to your screen and are easily removed and reusable. Just plaster those suckers all over the stuff that bothers your vision.
Quix's idea is really better - mine is the lazy way to fix the interference.
Either way, we don't want to lose a single on of you, ok?
Be well,
Lulu
I agree! Too much visual stuff going on for someone like me with ON. I am already fighting double vision. Adding the extra visuals makes it so I can only spend a short period of time on this web site.
LA
You are so brilliant, no wonder you have a M.D. after your name .... I love out thinking a problem. I was trying to figure out ways we could move the display to the left so it would be off the screen but there is no scroll bar! :-)
No title behind my name,
Lulu
HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAY!!!
I'll let the higher ups know obout this. It drives me to distraction also. I suspect there isn't much they can do. Ads are site wide.
Here is my temporary solution:
I cut a piece of contrsuction paper the width of that left hand space. I attatched it to a piece of yarn to hang over the offensive ad area. There i enough string at the top to let me flip it up and out of the way when I need to see the area.
Quix
ess, I did that HOURS ago
I will immediately ask the moderators to take a look at your posts - you make an excellent argument. I have also wondered if they have an epilepsy board and if they run these there.
Any disease that includes optical problems as a symptom really shouldn't be subjected for long to moving, flashing, spinning visuals.
I'm just the messenger,
Lulu
All I see is the brunette who keeps getting miraculously fat and thin. She doesn't flash. I wonder what gives here.
MedHelp has said (and has been true to its word) that it will remove any advertising that members have difficulty tolerating. Try posting on MedHelp Suggestions.

Yup. Fortunately my seizures have subsided, or I'd be seriously affected right now.
I think the issue isn't the ads, it's that they BLINK on and off. It's hard enough to concentrate without the BLINKING! I don't think we can get rid of the ads - they're what pay for the running of the site.
The advertisers should know that their ads aren't working, too. Maybe the designers should be thinking about what would appeal to a person with bad eyesight and other neurological problems. If the advertising is directed at us, that is.
I'm a designer, so I'd be more than willing to help troubleshoot web advertising - for a small fee, of course! ;-)
Yes....please ask them to stop moving...it has really started up my Vertigo again...it seems to really bother it..
I'm not able to look at parts of the forum because of the movements...
thanks alot

I agree - they drive me crazy - very distracting! I know they need their revenue, but.....
Ohh I so agree with you !! I have been in very little due to the same problem.
I try to read the board messages, and after about 5 minutes that blinking from
the sides of the screen, seems to trigger a flashing light effect on my eyes.
( Im thinking maybe having something to due with my ON. )
Its really sad, and too bad, it is really hindering the communications between
the members of this board.
As most of the people on this board or a good portion have eye problems with
the MS. What can I say besides the fact that it is a handi cap for us.
And to put up blinking adds on the sides of our form pages is just insult to
injury. CL's and Med help I sure hope that you can address and resolve
this problem. Im sure that other communities are experiencing the same
difficulty eye disorders or not. Thanks for listening WarKitten 2008
AMEN! I totally agree! Those things are driving me nuts. My vision is awful. I have to close my eyes and blink repeatedly to try to see what I am really trying to read on the posts or what I am actually trying to post myself. Thank you for saying what I wanted to say myself!
