jangling nerves/vibrations/burning aftermath of LP?

Hi guys I finally agreed to have a lumbur puncture/spinal tap. I was terrified and felt a bit like a wuss, but decided if I didnt go for it, my neurologist might end up dismissing me.

Well I was presently surprised as I felt NOTHING it was easy, quick and painless.

I got home at lunch time and rested for the rest of the day although the operator said it wasnt necessary and some people go back to work after the procedure. I didnt even get a headache.

Anyway yesterday I started to get the worse vibrations from my stomach down my bladder and then my legs and feet, it was so bad I could hardly pass water. I went to bed early and slept well hoping it would have gone by the time I got up.

I was sat watching the telly after having a cup of coffee, and suddenly i had the weirdest feeling in the back of my head almost like vibrations or bubbles it made me sit up and shout I was so shocked by it, my poor dog nearly had a heart attack.

My left eye felt weird afterwards but I didnt allow myself to panic and I felt ok and got up.

My legs were heavy and aching and burning so bad and vibrating still I decided to just chill out on the settee, although I rang my GP to speak to the doctor. She reckoned it was the aftermath of the LP and was my nerves protesting but was also concerned about a water infection, so I had a member of my family take a sample to be checked which was fine.

Also at the moment in the UK it is really hot, and I dont do heat at all well, so wonder if it could be this as well.

My question is has anyone else had this happen after a LP/SPINAL TAP?  I am just hoping it will have settled down a bit more tomorrow its horirble the worse I have ever had especially the vibrating in my private area.

Thanks for reading.

Well thanks guys. I do feel a tad better today. Not sure if it was a mixture of the LP and the heat to be honest. My legs are still fizzing and burning but not vibrating as much thank god.

In the UK they tell you to just get on with it after a LP. I didnt get told to rest and as soon as it was over I was told to go home. Good eh.

Anyway I am doing as you told me too. My cleaner came in yesterday and she did all my work, and my care assistant is coming in at 9.30 and she can do some washing and take the pooch for a walk. I am STICKING MY BOTTOM to the settee for another day LOL.

Thanks for caring. Huge hugs. Mariaxxxxxxxxxx

Hello there!

Long time, no see.  So, you went and had it done huh?

Well, I didn't suffer from exactly the same thing.  Actually, right afterward I was fine.  It was the few days that followed that were wretched.

Your descript does sound to me that it's LP-related since it came on not long afterward. You should have been advised to lay flat  for a stretch, at least 5-8 hrs even if you felt fine.

So, since you weren't, I'm glad you phoned the Dr.  Best advice I have is to drink lots of water and lay down as much as you can for the next few days.  It takes time no matter how much fluid they extracted for it to replenish itself.

The vibrating, is a whole n'other thing.  I'm not sure if it's lp-related, as it (and the legs) sounds so MSey to me.

Oh, and no stairs, or carrying anything either!  No pressure in any manner!

Thinking of you,

Hi! i had an LP a little over two weeks ago.  I, too, felt the bubble sensation you spoke of.  Very strange sensation.  The only way to describe it is that it felt like tiny bubbles were bursting in my brain.  No pain at all with the bubbles.  One of my ongoing symptoms that comes and goes is the feeling of being very shaky on the inside.  Immediately after the LP the shaky feeling was back and didn't subside for 6 days.  I'm not sure why but it definitely seemed like the LP really aggravated some of my symptoms.  You are very fortunate that you didn't get a headache.  I had an awful one for 6 days but like the shaky feeling the headache went away after six days.  I'm sure that your unwanted symptoms will wear off just give it a little more time.  By the way, you should definitely take it easy and I mean REALLY take it easy.  Your body needs more time than you think to recover.  NO grocery shopping, NO cleaning house, NO laundry, NO etc....  just lounge around and watch TV/movie or read.

I'm so sorry your going through this. I didn't have the vibrating happen with my LP but I was horribly sore and bruised. I felt more like a pin cushion then a patient that day LOL.

I would take it easy and rest as much as possible. I do remember everything was sore...my legs and arm..but it did feel better by the third day. Maybe this will be the same for you.

Take Care
