I Hate Steroids!

I realized I have been in the worst mood. I have been really depressed. Then it hit me I had a steroid infusion last week with my chemo. They really make me nuts. At least I realized it.

A friend of mine had that reaction too.  She called it "rage".  They just make me even more exhausted than usual.

I hope you're feeling better soon Alex.

Hadn't really considered that side of the issue, I suppose.  I suppose I will be thankful that my latest neuro is taking a wait-and-see attitude when I asked abiut IVSM.  I'm grumpy enough already!

I had the 3day infusion on 2 different occasions, and reacted differently both times. The first bout I felt very anxious and definitely had excess energy. I also had a terrible metallic taste in my mouth that drove me crazy. Second time not too much anxiety but very moody and emotional. I wish I would of gotten the energy boost with the second one too. Not so lucky.
I hope your yucky feelings subside soon.

My girlfriend said that I got a bit "intense" when I was getting dosed. :-) But for me it was a small price to pay for the huge benefit I got from 5 days of IVSM.

I agree... I am on a steroid crash... Can't even get out of bed.
Going to think twice about ever doing this again ... Last time was easier. :/

That sure is a awful sideaffects when it can ruin your whole week. I hope you get past it soon. It must be a little relief to realize that it is not your fault though :-/

Wishing for better days,

I agree with you completely. When I had my last round of IV steroids and then the taper off... I was a complete (you know what). I was depressed, angered quickly and would wake up at 3am to have a bowl of cereal every night while on the taper...

it was so bad, one night I woke up, groggy and could barely walk, went into the kitchen, got a bowl of cereal, sat down on the couch, next thing I knew, I lifted my head, it was 4:15am and the bowl of cereal was all over my lap! hahahahaha.... Definitely dont miss the mood swings I got from the steroids.

I hope you start to feel better soon and your mood improves!!

I've just started steroids today and am definitely not looking forward to the hungry and grumpy bit.  Bouncing off the walls with 'steroid' energy might be nice though as I currently have less than zero energy.  :-(
