You'd be surprised how many of us have cognitive issues and have gone through the testing, it's always going to be a bit of a shock to the system to see it in writing! I understand feeling like your loosing your mind, but i've honestly found it harder to manage the cog issues, when i'm dealing with the verbal communication issues at the same time. It might help to search this community and have a read through all the discussions we've had over the years, cog fog has been a fairly common topic but there would be a few on IQ test results too.

Colin,
I can relate to the cognitive issues. So far I've given up the job for which I spent four years at university and now live in fear that another bout of speech issues will be the end of my current job in education. Although it wouldn't be the end of the world financially, it probably would be the end of my self esteem.
Do you think there is any possibility that the stress caused by your home situation and the obvious fright you have had with your neuropsych results has exacerbated things for you? Stress can do awful things to people, illness or not, so perhaps this is playing a part??
Best wishes
Poppy
I am having trouble now. I get lost if I try to go home a different way(every time). One night, because of an accident on the highway, there was a detour. It took me three hours to get home (it's usually a 20 minute drive).
I am beginning to have some troubles at work too when it's a transaction that's different than I usually do. I've severely messed up twice in the past couple of weeks and have been reprimanded by both of my managers. In the past I have been able to pass off the mistakes and joke with my managers telling them that it's job security for them. Basically telling them that if I didn't need managed, they wouldn't have a job!
I was the top salesperson in January, tied in February, and tied in May. I like my job and really need to keep it.
I am the main support for my husband and I. We just bought a home in March He's on disability and in the past several months he has began drinking again (he had been sober for 15 years}. I have been threatening to boot him out....It's scary to think of the future. It seems that most with MS on here have mostly physical problems. All of my issues are things that you can't see and I'm afraid I'm loosing my mind.
Hi Colin, I ranked at the extreme ranges for visual and verbal. The neuropsych that met with me explained one was likely always lower than the other and that is was possible that MS had contributed to lowering it further. She said it is rare but possible to have such extreme findings.
I was freaked at first but like she said I was likely the only one who would even notice.

Hi Colin - I think we are all more suited towards one side of our brain than the other :-) I write reasonably well but long division scares me.
If this is your first round of testing I wouldn't sweat it. It will establish a base line. SHould you feel that you're having cognition issues down the road you can retest and compare.
