Follow-Up to My Last Post -Spasticity & Related Issues

So I got a call back from my Neuro's office this morning and I am realizing that I always tend to leave her office feeling either irritated or confused and I didn't feel any different after that phone call.

She said to back off on my Neurontin because of the muscle weakness. I asked "but then what I am supposed to do about the nerve pain?" Honestly I'll take the muscle weakness over the nerve pain, especially if it is supposed to be temporary which I assume that it since my dosage was just increased a couple of weeks ago.

I told her that I was more concerned about the muscle spasms. She asked about my Baclofen dose. I reminded her that I didn't take Baclofen because I had bad side effects to it when I did try it. So she said she would talk to the doctor about increasing my Flexeril, but with it being a Friday, I won't plan on hearing back from her today. and I just had my 30 day supply filled so I won't be able to get a new script filled anyway.

Oh well. I think I'm going to take a nap and then tackle cleaning the car.

Oji- try to get that new script filled. You can't second guess what your insurance will take care of.  I hear you about the costs- here's hoping this all comes together for you.

The funny thing is when I first stared Neurontin I was afraid  to take I because of the horrible reaction that I had to Baclofen I decided living in pain wasn't that bad. I could just deal with it.

I know they are "supposed" to cover new prescriptions but my insurance  won't.  They will fight me and fight me on it. What am I going to do? Sue them?  I have had this fight with them multiple times over the years. In addition fighting with them over filling prescriptions as written when I have failed on the generic versions. I pay over $4500 in premiums and probably the same in co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance and they fight me on $45 prescriptions. It's a bunch of crap. Anyway. They are sending me the new Flexeril scrip for 10mg 3x/day. I'm thinking this will do that trick because that's what I took yesterday and I feel a heck of a lot better today! Now I just need to work on the fatigue and I'll be ready to rock and roll!

If your dosage changes after a prescription is already filled the insurance companies are supposed to cover it because it is a new script and a new dosage.

I don't blame you for not wanting to drop the gabapentin for the nerve pain. I take it for the same reason and could not see dropping the dose.

Good luck with the changes!
