MRI and EP testing done

Well to say the least it was a long day. It was 86F in Toronto but with the humidex it was well over 100. Stinking hot!!!

My EP testing was not done in the MS clinic so therefore did not get a chance to blast them for the mix up in the follow up appointment but the lady who did my EP gave me some good advice. She was really angry when she heard what they had done and agreed that there was no way I should have to wait until Oct. 30 for the appointment. She said to call them in 2 weeks saying that I'm not doing well and could the neuro call me back or at least try to get me in sooner. She said if I don't get anywhere that way, she gave me the name of the nurse who is the coordinator for the clinic and to speak with her and she was sure that she would get me in sooner or at least get me my results. So I'll be a thorn in their side until I get somewhere.

The EP was short. I looked at a checkered board with one eye and then the other, my left foot was zapped and then the right, then my left hand and then the right. That was it. I had asked her what she thought of the results and I think she was going to tell me when this doctor walked in so I guess that kaboshed that.

My MRI went well as they took me in a half hour earlier than my appointment time and it was done with no contrast. It was of both my brain and spine and took about an hour and a half. When I asked if there was no contrast to be done the tech said that it wasn't ordered but if it needed to be done I could always come back. She said normally with this length of time in the machine, they don't do contrast as it is too hard on people.

The Lorazepam really helped me though. It was the calmest I have ever felt in that machine and although toward the end my shoulder pain was starting, I really didn't pay that much attention to it. When we left, a severe thunderstorm was just starting and apparently the hydro went off in parts of Toronto, so I'm really glad they took my in early.

I'm exhausted today and shaking a bit and my legs feel weak but other than that I think I'm okay.lol I took today off work and only have 3 days left and then I will be off for the summer!!

So I thank you all for the support and help with Lorazepam info. I felt a lot better going down there and knew that you were all there with me to support me. So in 2 weeks we'll see what happens then! lol

Hugs to all of you

I feel that as caring as the EP person obviously is, that waiting another 2 weeks and then "hoping" that they can get you in earlier is too passive for the situation.  IMNTHO you need to talk to the Nurse Coordinator and get some sort of special appointment to make up for the **** they caused.  When you talk to her, yes, explain that you are getting worse and worse.  If you have to wait another 4 months because they fracked up, then you will be in a wheelchair, the nuthouse or both!

Be proactive.  There is NO REASON to wait 2 weeks to tell them you are barely hanging on as it is.

I know, I know...I am a rabble-rouser.   I'm the one in the bar yelling, "Let's you and him fight!"

Rena, ya I'm sure looking forward to the break. It's been a long haul up till now. So now I just have to let my patience set in  (hahahahahaha) and wait the couple of weeks and then start hounding them. Ah the Canadian medical system is such a joy. NOT. I will let you know how I'm doing. At least the tech was caring.

Jo, D o n u t s, mmmmmmmmm, lol Yes my dear daddy is a real trooper. You'll get no argument from me there. It was nice though as we had a very long time to chat and catch up on things. He has some health issues of his own so we talked a lot about that as well so I think it was really good for us.

I was thankful that it was uneventful yesterday and am just glad that part is over. I was really impressed with the tech trying to help me out. She was really fantastic.

Good luck tomorrow and now I know why we get along so well. I love that music!!!!! Drive safe Hon and let me know how you made out.

I'll be sure to pass the hugs on to my dad, I know he'll appreciate it.

Hugs to you Jo

It sounds like it was an uneventful experience , which is a very good thing . and the timing was right so you didn't end up in the machine for the night . ( hey you , by the candle , could you pass the donuts  ?  )      :) :)

Hey girl...I am glad that you only have a few days of work to go...you need a break girl and it's time!  So I guess you have to wait a couple weeks and see if you can get in and get your results...how bogus is that eh?  I like the attitude of the tech that did the EP...I say give it a whirl...beats waiting till October doesn't it?  Well best of luck with your results and keep us posted as to how you are doing ok...I am thinking of ya!

Lots of Hugs,

Rena

Sorry if this is sloppy with drool but I was just reading your donut post.lol

Ya everything went okay and I will start pushing them in 2 weeks for either the reports or her getting me in quicker. I am NOT going to wait 4 months because they screwed up!!

I'm going to make myself stay up for the day although all I want to do right now is crawl into bed but I need to be up at 5:30am so this way I'll be able to go to bed real early and then sleep the night away. Using toothpicks right now to keep my eyelids propped open right now.HAHA

Hugs back at ya
