I can't balance or pedal a bike.  I can't balance on two feet though.  I probably shouldn't be driving my car lol

Alex,
OUCH!  That sounds so painful.  Horse back riding is something I used to do.  I want to start again as long as I can get up into the saddle!!

I sold my three bikes last year which was hard. I had a Specialized Allez road bike ( over $1000 bike) , a folding bike, and a hybrid with big tires. I fell and broke my cheek and moved 5 teeth. Between balance, vertigo, and knee pain it just was not fun anymore. I used the money to buy used riding gear and pay for discount lessons ( which are less than PT ) I really enjoy the riding. At least the horse is stable unlike my bike.

My husband is a big bike rider he rides 200ks every month and 300K, 400ks, and 600's once a year.

There is a 14 mile bike route where I live.  I was unsure if I could do it this year but I figured if I didn't try I would never know.  I got on my bike and tested myself in a parking lot. I road without ant problem. I wouldn't try biking on a rugged trail because of balance issues but on a smooth even road I felt better than I have felt in a long time.  Walking a distance is actually more difficult for me.
Every body is different and you have to safely find out what you can do.

I have been told to swim but the question is where!  I live in a small town.  The school does have a pool but because of funds the swim team is the only group allowed to use it.

Even with the stationary ones at the gym, I am limited to the lower recumbent ones.  I took a fall from an upright lifecycle and will not do that again.

I haven't ridden a bike since I was in my 20's, if you don't count those stationary ones in the gym.

If you want to ride, maybe you can go to a specialty bike store and ask those experts for recommendations and even try out one or two different styles. There are even bikes that are propelled by arm movements rather than your legs.

I've seen all sorts of bikes being ridden and maybe you could find one that works for you.

But what about those who couldnt ride a bike before?

lol the thing that stopped me riding a bike long before I lost my balance, was my lack of padding in my touche, there's nothing like bruising your hooha ROFL

If I can ever be bothered to get back on a bike, it would probably be a recumbent and i'm sure it would need to have a motor or i'd never get back home again :-0

ROFL i'm still learning to find up half the time, is there an up on a bike? To amuse my dh i sent him a picture of what i want for Christmas, it those bouncy stilt thingy's you strap on your legs, you wobble and bounce as you walk, i figure i might not look so daft with those on my legs lol

Oh sounds nausty, had a friend do that once, be careful to keep it clean etc with less feeling you wont have the right signals telling you when something is wrong.

Cheers........JJ

I have tried and can not balance or even pedal.

It is frustrating.  I do not want to ride a 3 wheel bike.

I was able to ride a 4 wheeler today!  That was fun until I hit a mud puddle and burned my leg.

I had to go to the ER and now my leg is wrapped.

The burn is 2nd degree.  It is in my leg that has loss of sensitivity.  So at least it is not hurting!

I have not tried since before all this began but I am so dizzy and off balance most of the time I wouldn't probably do it.
