Embarrasing question but hey we are all friends.

Hi forum friends,
I have a NEW SYMPTOM, that I haven't had before, I have numbness and tingling and pulsating type sensation, feels like I might be having fasculations sp? around my anus and maybe up my back passage,  I have had numbness and pins and needles etc. in my privates before but more around the other area.  I doubt if I could tell my neuro about this one but might pluck up the courage if people thought it was important.  I am suffering from industrial strength constipation too., I feel like I have a vibrator shoved up my ****.

Could this be caused by the Vesicare drug I am taking?  It is not painful, just annoying or weird, certainly not pleasant that's for sure.
It is incredibly hot here, I have not known it to be so hot in a long, long time, so perhaps this is what has triggered it.

I have also had pins and needles that started in my legs and moved up to my torso, some muscle cramping/spasms and burning sensations, but that seems to be coming right now and I had a headache with that so I wonder if it was migraine, it lasted a couple of weeks but is getting better. Hmmmmmmm.  I felt like I had a tight stocking around my left leg but both legs hand pins and needles but it started in my feet and my left toes keep going numb on and off and foot but overall it's good.  I have had pins and needle in my stomach area before.

Could that have been another attack or do you reckon it was migraine because I did have a headache?

Cheers,
Udkas.

Yes, I see why you are confused. Me too and I bet your doc's even scratch their heads trying to figure out what is what.

Sorry, I did not mean to say that all of your symptoms are blamed on migraines, and yes it is weird that you get a head pain during the time these new symptoms show up.  But who wouldn't get a headache with the symptoms you are describing.  :-(

I am confused too why you get new symptoms, and ongoing symptoms.  Surely you are very sensitive to heat and might bring about more symptoms.

As Gilda Radner from Saturday Night Live said many years ago, If it ain't one thing it's another.  She was hilarious as was John Beluchi.  (sp?)

Hang tight. Now I'll go wear some tye-dyed clothing as I seem to be speaking like an over the hill hippie.  :-)

Just to clarify my neuro does not think for a minute that all my symptoms are caused by migraine, he thinks my migraines could be part of my symptoms caused by a lesion in the spinal cord, but I do seem to get so many weird sensations and then have normal imaging, so it's me that thinks that it has to be migraine as I can't see it being anything else!!

I know he (the neuro) does think I have had an episode of TM and I have migraines but why do I keep getting ongoing symptoms, both neuro's I have seen agree that it's neurological and not anxiety etc.

See why I am so confused.
Thanks for your reply, maybe it's just the heat flaring things up.

Thanks for your replies I think I will call the neuro tomorrow but I doubt if I would be able to be seen any sooner as they are so over worked, and understaffed at the moment..

Karen I don't think my neuro blames everything on migraines, he has only blamed my vertigo and facial symptoms on migraines, (his words were that migraine usually only caused a bit of tingling in your hand or your foot, but it seems odd that I get a migraine and then get these symptoms with the headache.

In answer to your question about my symptoms being constant or intermittent they built up gradually over a period of two weeks, started off with just some numbness in my foot and then pins and needles in my legs etc. then my stomach and butt but it was getting worse each day but gradually but still intermittent throughout the day, does that make sense, Quix told me that some people can present with their parethesesias sp? like that, the banding sensation was present all day on my left leg, felt like a tight stocking, but that too has gone now, I am just getting a few pins and needles, I never noticed any new weakness, my left leg always feels a bit funny, but my backpassage vibrating has happened on and off all day but seems to have disappeared now, but it's cooled off as it's night time here now.

My stomach still feels a bit prickly but not too bad. This is why I wonder if it's just migraine as I don't seem to have any new weakness etc.

As far as the constipation goes I have been eating fruit, fruit and more fruit and all bran, and more all bran.
I seem to get the pins and needles when I have weird random head pains that's why I feel like it must be migraine type thing, I don't actually get a migraine as such, just weird sensations, like bolts in my head.

See why I am so confused, I keep thinking it all has to be migraine seeing as nothing seems to show on my MRI. I will be having a MRI again soon anyway,

More confused than ever,
Udkas.

Oh my goodness.  Ditto to the advice and suggestions above.  Yes, you need to tell your neurologist.  Call his office and tell them what you are experiencing.  Your neuro will probably want to see you.

As Julie asks: Are the symptoms constant or intermittent?

Frankly, I find it flabergasting that so many of your symptoms are blamed on migraines.

Industrial strength constipation is something that has to be dealt with too.  Don't let yourself go too long without having a BM.   Obviously things aren't working as they should be - perhaps the muscles are contracting in a manner that won't allow anything to pass.  You might need medical attention to help with this because you can find yourself in a bad way if you can't poo.

Are the symptoms constant or intermittent?

I think you need to see your neuro now while your symptoms are acting up.  You need another MRI as it sounds like you are having an exaccerbation.

That tight band sensation screams neurological and I doubt this is due to a TM relapse.  Please call your neuro and get in for an exam and hopefully an MRI.

Hang in there.

I am due to see my neuro in 6 weeks time, I hate being a nuisance but I kinda felt this time round that it could be an attack and not migraine but I did get a headache with it, seems to have settled now apart from the some fleeting pins and needles and this back passage thing... that's really weird.. I must admit I didn't think it would be the vesicare (which has stopped all my painful bladder spasms) as I think that stops things from having spasms.. Ren I am just so confused these days..

Thanks for your reply.

PS. I have experienced your new sensations and they are not at all pleasant. Hope they pass quickly.

Hi Udkas,

I have complex migraines that involve left arm numbness, tingling and pain but the symptoms stay specific and the same. To me, it sounds like another attack but I'm no expert. Have you called your neuro and reported this symptoms? The traveling paraesthesias  would concern me.

My 2 cents worth. Sorry I could been more help. Quix??????

Feel better soon,
Ren
