I have this happen anytime I exercise. sometimes it happens when the sun is directly on my legs and they get hot or I get into a hot car. Heat seems to be the common denominator.

It only happens in my feet and legs below the knees and once in awhile my arms and hands. The itching is so intense that I can only describe it as bone deep and makes me feel panicky. There is no rash. It goes away as soon as I wrap a cool wet towel around my feet and legs and elevating them helps.

I also have had many years of breaking out in hives in the middle of the night. I take Benadryl when it happens. it is always in the early am around 1-3. Weird.

I am not dx with MS but am being looked at for it.

I hope it helps to at least know you are not the only one. I am sorry you have to experience this.

Sorry so late in replying but yes, this has happened to me as well.  Body temp regulation problem. Lot of itching.  Getting too hot can make it worst. You are not alone!

Yep, the most frustrating thing waking up in the wee hours itching like crazy. And it does seem to be worse when I'm hot. Also one of those pending diagnosis, but evidently this is something plenty of us are having :)

HTH- My internal thermostat is also broken. I can be hot and then freezing and then sweating all in the span of a few minutes. Don't know if this is related either but hope it helps.

i get this a lot. multiple times a week, anyway. been going on at least 6 mos, likely longer.

frequently associated with heat, often when i wake up sweaty.

i went thru menopause quite early, before i hit 45 i started. this isn't anything like it.

hope its not thread drift but my thermostat is way messed up too :) i freeze all winter, n kidding i spent many a night at work wearing long underwear under my scrub, sweatshirt, with a fleece throw on my lap and another on my shoulders. while my partner sitting next to me has two small personal fans going to try to cool her off.

whats really weird is i can be literally shivering, and then start to sweat like a horse. i may or may not then start to feel warm. if i do feel warm and de-layer, shortly after i take off the sweatshirt the chills start again.

i'd venture a guess the worst of the itching is associated with the really bad days like that.worst of it stopped early april and didnt need the long johns anymore. sweatshirt still goes on and off. a hot bath can start the itching and make it and other things worse.

my doc gave me hydroxyzine 25 mg caps. does make me a bit sleepy. so i take one every bedtime. i think its helped.

I have had this happen about 2 weeks ago. I woke up with severe itching on both my legs and I was also hot. I think any elevation in body temp can cause this. I have not been diagnosed with MS, but certainly have a lot of symptoms.
