Ok, I have another "rookie" question...

I recently bought a pedal exerciser- the type you can use with a chair or on a tabletop.  My doctor has advised me to only use it on the tabletop for my arms, because of the danger of losing my balance/falling

Before I could use it I got a respiratory infection, that when finished left my right leg feeling like a rock- cold, no feeling, hard- completely unresponsive (somewhat new, although I already had CRPS in that foot), and my left hand (relighting an old symptom).  I today, I basically spent the day trying to get some feeling in that leg.  I thought maybe if I could get some blood flowing in it, it might at least not get gangrene.

Ok-so I only used it for about 5 minutes, and that by pushing my legs around with left leg doing most of the work, and my right arm pushing down on my right leg.  The result:  both legs are NOT working.  I didn't get heated up- so I don't understand.  Finally, my left leg did start to move again, but only with great difficulty.  I was able to get here to my laptop, but even with my walker I move like Frankenstein. (Lurch/drag repeat) What did I do wrong here?  Any suggestions?  Is this a 'normal' thing to have happen?

Thanks,
Tammy

Since my last flare my legs don't move as smoothly.
Before the flare whenever I tried to go for a walk, I would do okay if I took my time but the next day I would pay for it.

Good luck!

Thank you for the reassurance.  I did speak to my neurologist, and was told that this is normal for some of us.  I will have to (very gradually) retrain my body to accept some things.  I will also start pt again, when my insurance allows it.

That's good that you're trying to exercise. My legs are pretty weak, too. I'm not sure what to tell you with this situation.  Maybe keep trying?  I really like Alex's idea of maybe start some sort of physical therapy.

Take care,
Kelly

When do you see your Neurologist again?. Everyone of us is different. You may need specific physical therapy to start you out. It is not that you are doing anything wrong it is just more complicated.
