Slurring and other things.

While my doctor hasn't yet confirmed my MS diagnosis (99.9 sure but hasn't run further tests yet) I'm pretty confident that that's what's causing my demyelination in my brain.  Anyway, my reason for posting is this.  Occasionally, I notice that my speech is slurring.  I know that that's a normal symptom of MS but I also have been midconversation and I can't recall a very simple every day usage word.  It happens mainly when I'm tired or overwhelmed.  I can't continue on the coversation because I MUST figure out what the word I mean is.  Not just that but I've noticed that my typing is slurred.  If that makes sense.  My typos are near constant at times.  I always scan like crazy before I send any messages to fix them but it's becoming a nuisance.  Half of my left hand is numbish which doesn't help with the typos but that's not the only reason for them.  Has anyone else here noticed the same problems?

Thank you for your warm welcome everyone!  I'm glad to know that I'm not alone in what's going on but sorry that we all have to go through the frustration that this causes.  I'm kind of wondering how karaoke is going to be when I'm well enough to go again.  It ought to be amusing when I'm slurring and saying the wrong words.  Hee.  Of course, since karaoke is usually in a bar I'm sure that'll people will just assume the usual slurring, stumbling reason.

My main problem is that I'm OCD and a geek.  Typos and loss of vocabulary are a big irritation for me.  Also, most of my job training is phone customer service and data entry.  Secretarial type stuff.  Slurring and typos are frowned upon.  I'm going to try and go do the online school thing for graphic design because it involves little talking and I can take my time editing things.  I'm out of work until the worst of this is over so I certainly have the time and I NEED to be doing something creative.

Again thanks for your warm welcome!

Hi Lorelei,

The slurring thing can occur if you get over tired.
I have speech and use the wrong words when I am in a flare.

My speech can happen while on the phone and friends know that i am tired so they normaly cut the conversation short.

Yes, I too get "tongue tied" and I can't think of a simple word. I am forgetful, and I can't speak as fast as I could before.

Your not alone.
Nice having you here.  :-)

Hello and welcome.

What you describe is unfortunately very common among our members. Word recall and speech problems happen all the time.

Lots of us have a great deal of trouble typing, even if we used to be quite good at it.

If you'd like, 'pull up a chair' and tell us more about yourself.

Again, welcome to our forum.
