Soooooo tired........

I am 32 years old, and I been diagnosed with hashimotos disease last November . Two years ago I started getting neck spasms, and fatigue, and tender lymph nodes in neck area. Recently my blood work came normal( CBC ). I also had cervical spine MRI done and there was a benign vertebral hemangioma at C7, and C3-C4 a disc herniation, and another disc herniation on levels C7-T1. I also been experiencing dizziness, muscle twitches, and arm weakness, hand tremors, a feeling where my body feels like I have pins and needles, sweat easily, joint pain.  I am on Prozac for stress anxiety, primidone for tremors, and trazodone for sleep. I have been told by many these are symptoms of MS. Do you think my symptoms are ???

I agree that MS sounds unlikely, based on your symptoms. Lymph node tenderness and joint pain aren't a part of MS. Though of course you haven't had much testing, so a brain MRI is a good idea. Your neck MRI was essentially normal--they report everything they see, and nearly all adults will have some 'findings,' most totally harmless.

So definitely continue your testing. There are a great many conditions that cause similar symptoms. Lyme testing is indicated, but be aware there are lots of false negatives with Lyme testing, so learn about it before you start.

Best of luck,
ess

I haven't did a brain MRI yet. I am being treated for hashimotos and it's all in normal ranges. Thank you all for your help, I will look into Lyme disease.

Hi Bri,

Welcome to the forum.

Have you considered Lyme disease.  You have listed some classic symptoms of this condition.  I would seriously consider looking at this route but to do so you must make an appointment with a Lyme literate doctor, normal GP's will just dismiss you.

Also, Hashimoto's can cause a lot of what you are describing - are you on medication for that?

You may find it very helpful to post your message on the Lyme board, there are some excellent folk who can provide you with a lot of information and maybe even point you in the right direction in obtaining a diagnosis.

Good luck and let me know how you get on.  I'm on this and the Lyme forum.

Hi Bri and welcome.
We are not doctors around here, except for quix who is on a hiatus right now, and can't give you a medical answer to your question.  But based on what I know as a lay person, htere are things you mention that lead me away from MS.

Nothing in your MRI report mentions lesions/demyelination of the spinal cord.  Have you had a brain mri done, too?

The tender lymph nodes in the neck usually is not associated with MS. This is a disease of the central nervous system and the lymphatic system works in our cirulatory (blood) system.

the dizziness, twitches, pins, needles, etc can come from a large number of disease or syndromes, including the stree anxiety and sleep disorders you mention that you are already being treated for.

The best way to get answers to your question is to work closely with a neurologist who specializes in MS and have a thorough neurological exam.

So initially I don't think your symptoms are MS, but again, only you and your doctors can determine this.

welcome again - feel free to come back and ask all your quesitons.  We're here to help you make sense of this.

be well, Lulu
