Spinal Cord Stimulator

Has anyone had a spinal cord stimulator implanted? My pain specialist said I can trial it for a week to see if it helps. I wondered if anyone has experience with this.

He is leaning toward the Medtronic unit, since it has two implantable leads--I have pain on both sides of my body.

Thanks!

Is it the Prilat infusion they are discussing? I was under pain mangement and was scheduled for the trial implant due to pain issues. I did all my research and was as confident as I could be considering it was a spinal implant.

In the meantime, my meds were tweaked and Nuedexta was added to my regimen and lo and behold, the leg pain starting letting up and so we postpned the trial for a month and eventually came to  the point where I did not need it.
If the med had not worked I would have done it. I read and talked to patients about the experience and even with it's drawbacks, it's better than constant pain.

I wish you luck with your decision and a improvement in your pain control,

Hi I am also in the same position that this is possibly the next step in helping with leg pain and bladder disfunction. Again it would be tested first.
We are just having a bit of a hiccup as one urologist has said it has contra indications but my pain specailist feels this is not the case. The surgeon who will perform the test and op has no concerns. So I am just waiting for them to fight it out.
