Survived Reno!

i got back a few days ago from a 5 day trip to Hot August Nights (car show) in Reno. Can you say HOT? I did remarkably well, I think! We stayed with friends in their time share and were warned that I might need to be in air conditioning or take a nap in the afternoon. They were great about it. The first day was the hardest, having just arrived mid afternoon and then off to heat and increased elevation. I was so excited to be there I didn't drink enough fluids. The next day I carried water, wore my neck cooling "neckbandoo" and stayed in the shade when possible! I did rest every afternoon after that and I think I only experienced the tiredness one has coming off a vacation!

I had my last check up on the 2nd of August and I am cleared to return to work Sept. 1!! I will go in a few days next week just to get reaquainted with my work space! Good news!  That will be a good test of whether I am ready or not!

Unfortunatly I have developed a frozen shoulder on my left side! Not fun! Came on slowly and then I couldn't move my arm above my head or behind my back. Hard to sleep so PCP gave me Ambien and pain pills. NOT to be taken together!!

Family stress is still high, but we are praying for the right outcome.

I'm glad you had a good time in Reno and took care of yourself, sorry to hear about the frozen shoulder, that's the pits.. I had that a couple of years ago and it took forever it seemed to get better.. do slow excercises... lifting it straight up as far as comfortable and hold for as long as its OK... do that once in a while through the day...

thats what the physio told me to do when I had it..??

take care and hope things settle with family

No, we didn't get to Rib Fest but we didn't lack for food, that's for sure! Now it is hot here and with more humidity - icky sticky!

I start PT on Thursday for the frozen shoulder. I'm looking forward to getting back to full health! This is really better than I expected, though, so I can't complain!

Did you get to Rib Fest, too?  I used to practice in a small rural town about 90 miles out of Reno.  That was our "go to" city.  I like Reno.

Glad you're not the worse for wear.

I'm glad to hear you made it OK in 'Reno--the smallest big city in the world'.  Isn't that what they call it?  I have driven through it a few times and it is very hot!!

Glad you made it through
