Welcome Jules! Glad you found us. In case you haven't find them yet we have Health Pages in the upper right hand corner of this page , next to the yellow icon, they are filled with a wealth of information.
Many members on the the board take amitriptyline (Elavil) or nortriptyline (Pamelor) to their does of gabepentin. It seems to be a good adjunct to the gabapentin and increases its effectiveness.
There are other drugs that are used "off-label" for pain control in MS. I for one, take several drugs that are anti-seizure meds taken and sub-therapeutic doses but heir combined effect is pain relief. I take nortriptyline, gabapentin, Trileptal and Cymbalta. Others taken different combinations that work well for them. It is a process of trail and error though.
Again, welcome and feel free to ask about anything...nothing is really off-limits unless it is disparaging to others.

Jules,
Yeah I am battling that right at the moment, but getting ready to go on a strict diet to try to help with that.
I don't want to give up the lyrica but I just wrote in a post that I would rather deal with the pain than gain weight. But on another note, gabapentin has the same weight gain side affect.
Paula
Thanks, I have heard that it makes you gian weight if you are prone to this type of side effect!

Hi Jules,
I was on gabapentin for a while and my doctor switched me to lyrica which I have to say works much better for me than gabapentin. I would recommed lyrica to anyone who has nerve pain.
Hope this helps
Paula
