Hi, I have a positive vgkc and twitching too, plus many other symptoms.... Did you ever find a cause?
I have MS and twice confirmed VGKC antibodies. Not sure if that is common at all, and I am not sure if those findings are related or separate, but just wanted to chime in. My MS symptoms are more prevalent than neuromyotonia (VGKC antibody) symptoms. Not sure if any other MS-ers would have these antibodies if docs looked for them. It's not a common test to perform. Original poster, sounds like you have alot of the twitching cramping symptoms that I've seen in my neuromyotonia groups. Hope you get some answers soon if you haven't already!
Thanks Aspen2 - I don't have weakness - or at any rate none that's been detected in Neuro exams, and I've been doing some weight training and increasing the weight loads.
I'll wait and see - I think the Neuro is pretty much minded to observe things, as the treatment for vgkc is apparently immuno-suppression.
This test points away from ms as a cause -- I had this test done as well. It's something more to do with transmission of signal at the junction between nerve and muscle, rather than central nervous system issue like MS.
When do you see your neurologist to talk about the results? All these tests get pretty confusing, and your neurologist will be the best person to sort out what it means for you.
