Very early, but encouraging Stem Cell Trial results.

A very small study, and very early on but some encouraging signs.

I know that prof Slavin in Israel is recommended by many people to conduct this treatment
Not sure of the results that he's had so far but the mesenchymal stem cell approach is the same
Even Dr Freedman recommends him

The initial study is designed to establis safety and tolerability. The abstract does mention progressive MS. I do not believe it is confined to PPMS, but rather includes people with SPMS, like me. The brass ring for this approach is the repair of existing nerve damage.

Here is the description of the trial from ClinicalTrials.gov

"The study is an open-label, phase I clinical trial designed to evaluate the safety and tolerability of intrathecal administration of autologous mesenchymal stem cell-derived neural progenitor cells (MSC-NP) in patients with progressive multiple sclerosis. Study participants will receive three intrathecal injections of culture-expanded autologous MSC-NPs at three month intervals."
