I am not to big of a believer in coincidence. This was sent to you, and congratulations!
Thank you all, I feel very fortunate.
I also have to agree Dennis, GG and summer,
I, too, am a type A personality. I have always worked very hard with very little breaks. Was always ok for me, until I got sick. I don't know I can take it easier at a new job.
I am going to discuss at my interview my limitations. Don't like that AT ALL!
I tend to push myself too hard, and do tend to get in trouble with this. I am still trying to accept this whole MS thing at times, and get very very frustrated.
So, yes, I hear you all, and made me think about my personality and HOW to take care of ME, as well as others.
Thanks,
Michelle
Oh, YAYY, Michelle! Serendipity! Dontcha love it? Good luck with your new job, and I totally agree with Dennis - set your boundaries.
Part time is a good option. I went back to work part time after being on disability to see if I could handle it and it was good :) You know what they say Networking is how you find new opportunity.
Unrelated but a friend has mental illness has not been able to handle working for a year due to major depression /anxiety, but she is coming out of it and remember last year someone told her who to contact to be a crossing guard. She saw on the news they were short crossing guards in herarea, so she called her conectin and got an inerview a few das later
Congratulations Michelle! Yay!
That last post was for you not Mellisa...Sorry about that...
Dennis
That is good news! But I should warn you due to my experience.
About 1 year after I went on disability I was feeling better and thought I could handle going back to work. I found a contract position as a Hardware design engineer so I could basically set my own hours as long as I got the work done by the due date.
I told myself that I would work each day until I got tired but being an A type person I just could not stop working when I needed to stop. Needless to say I was getting worse every day and just barely got the project done. I did still manage to get the design done ahead of schedule and they wanted me to do some other projects. But there was no way I could have worked one more day.
It ended up taking me almost 4 years to get back to the same place I was before I started that job.
So if you do decide to go back to work set yourself limits that will not task yourself too much and STICK with them.
Dennis
