in march i had severe vertigo, that made me stop on highway and call 911. My ct scan was normal. I had a vp shunt 12 years ago for pseudo tumor. No real problems since then. In Dec i had a neck fusion due to ruptured disk. Again no problems,i did not have to take and pain meds post op. Since then i have had a mri bran scan which showed multiple foci and demylation. Have had a hearing test and a emg. all normal. all lab work has been normal. had spinal tap last week. it showed high total protein of 150 in csf and serum. opening tap pressure low. found monoclonia but not ogliclonia. no one can  give me answers. I will be 50 very soon. any suggestions please.

Are you being followed by a Neurologist? If so what is the next step. With many its wait six months, have some more tests, and have another appointment. It can seem awefully slow. What about Neurological exams? They are done in the office. The health pages at the bottom explain them.

Hi MLB - Welcome to our little world.

As Lisa said, we are not docs. We are polks with a lot of anecdoatal information derived from dealing with our own stuff :-)

I looked and saw that there can be demyelination associated with hydrocephalus. Have you been in touch with the doc that treated your pseudotumor?

Hi, there, and welcome!  You've found a cool site with lots of smart, caring people.  I'm no doctor, and don't even pretend to be one, TV or otherwise!  I think all you can do at this point is wait to see what your neurologist says.  You ARE seeing a neurologist, right?

A negative LP doesn't rule out MS, in fact LP and MRI and all the other testing only offer clues as to what's going on.  MS is a clinical call.

While you're waiting, have a look at our Health Pages (link at bottom of page).  They're full of all kinds of great info.

Keep in touch, and let us know what happens.
Cheers,
Lisa
