What a waste
Yes this is another rant about the VA.
Went to the stop smoking clinic in Murfreesburo today because my shrink said I would have to go to it in order to get the acupuncture treatment that she told me about. Well after 2.5 hours on the road (it is just as far away as the Nashville VA) a nurse calls me back for my appointment. He takes my BP which seemed pretty strange for them to do for a stop smoking clinic and sets things up for me to get my flu shot after the clinic.
There were two other patients for the clinic as they are limiting the number of patients to 3 in the clinic at one time. So at least that makes me feel a little better as I was expecting to to be a very crowded room like the last time they had me at one of these clinics. So there are 2 doctors and 3 patients.
So the one doctor starts out by talking about the treatment options and I mention the acupuncture. to which she replies that the VA here is not offering that as treatment. What the! That is why I was refereed to the clinic for. So I'm stuck there listening to theses 2 doctors go on about how hard it is to stop smoking for another 1.5 hours.
When they brought up the patches I informed the doctor that I have severe reaction to the patches so she say they could RX a steroid spray to stop the reaction, but since I smoke too many packs of cigarettes a day they won't even do that.
When they talked about Chantix they said they would only give an RX for that if you have tried and failed 3 times with each of the other treatment options while under their care. But them only with the approval of your regular shrink. Since my regular shrink will not approve the use of this for anyone with PTSD even if they have been stable for years they won't do that one either.
