Pain in right eye when looking up.

So on Tuesday night I started having some eye pain in my right eye when I use my eye to look up.  Not moving my head up just my eye.  Now throught out some of Monday and Tuesday I did have some flare ups in a headache that I had possibly because of sinuses.  My cousin (who works with eye doctors) seems to think it was my sinuses just acting up.  I also work in front of a computer all day and when I went home that night I also used a computer.  The next morning it was there but an hour later my eye felt better and havent gotten it since.

I also did rub my eye a bit to hard in the shower as well and noticed after that shower.  In fact if i never moved my eye up I never would have noticed the pain.

I didnt have any other symptoms like, vision loss or blurry vision.  I also didnt see any lights and such. I have had this before and I go for eye check ups since I wear glasses.  The last time I went was in October 2015 and I didnt mention this issue but the doctor didnt notice anything wrong either.  In fact my vision loss wasnt that much in the 2 years and I didnt need new glasses!!

I am worried because I heard this could be an early sing of MS.  Should I go for an eye check up or get an MRI?  Anyone who has had eye pain with MS was your experience similar?

I am a Male who is 29.

I would see a neuro and get eyes checked. Neuro issues can cause eye problems and also autoimmune diseases

You need to check it out to make sure it is not a detached retina or something else.

Hi there,

You are definitely jumping way over every other, much more common explanation to have come up with MS!

You didn't experience any of the common MS visual issues eg loss of sight, diplopia-double, Nystagmus, blurred, etc  to go along with the eye pain on looking up but you do already wear glasses, spend most of your time on a computer and had already been experiencing sinus issues and or one of your headache flare ups that day, and this time it happened directly after you rubbed your eye too hard whilst in the shower.

I would think rubbing your eye is the more likely causation......water, product, rubbing etc all could cause your eye to be irritated and or slightly inflamed, and would be consistent with what you experienced since it cleared up over night, that would seem to me to be the more reasonable and more common explanation than a neurological condition like MS...

Hope that helps......JJ

You're getting waaaaaay ahead of yourself with thoughts of something like MS. It's far more likely to be related to the causes you mentioned (eye strain and/or sinus issues). I'd make an appointment with your optometrist if it's causing you concern.
