MS HUG ... Meds?

Is this something that comes with a flare for you?
Is it something that comes and goes for you?

Do you take medication for the pain? Everyday? Only when it comes?
What kind?

The reason I ask....
If this is with a flare can I treat the symptom with a med? Or is Ivsm all the doc will do?
This really hurts... I do not want Ivsm

Glad you got the culprit taken care of.  I have just gotten over bilateral pyelonephritis.  Was not fun. :D

Ps - Cranberry juice contains about 5% of actual cranberry....Best bet is to take cranberry pills that has the concentration to acidify your urine.  Plus its without all the sugar -- unless you don't mind it :D

I hope you're feeling better now

Aha, so that was th culprit! Totally makes sense doesn't it? Glad your co-worker encouraged you to seek help. Kidney infection can be bad news if it goes on too long. Good news is that antibiotics normally work pretty quickly to zap the infection. Other good news is that cranberry juice is one of the key ingredients in a Cosmopolitan. ;)

Just want to update bc I hate finding questions with no answers when searching

So to update ... My hug has vanished with only a bit of tenseness left .. Huh... That's odd .. Right?
It has replaced with my dull right side ache I have had for a week or so only 10x worst... I was literally limpin around work today .. Seriously?!?!
My coworker sends me to clinic bc she figures kidney infection... Or appendicitis ...
Yup!!! Kidney infection!!! Horrible glowing urine stick .. Even the doctor was like how long has this been going on?!?
So antibiotics and cranberry juice it is... Will I ever understand this monster?

Thanks karry!
I hope there is a med too! Just until it passes. I read online of some but I don't think they are "on Occurrence" types

Oh It is awful!! You know!!

I don't have this all the time either. This is second time and the first time was not bad.... I did not know I had it bc I was numb from hug down... Neuro knew it. I thought it was funny.... Until numbness went away with Ivsm  I did not laugh then :( it was gone fast though ... Maybe a day.

I am at a few progressing days now

I had the hug on and off a long time ago. I didn't know what it was back then but it felt like I was being squeezed really tight. I blamed it on arthritis as I have with most things in life up until recently.

I would love to know if there is something you can take when it comes on as well. Mine were too sporadic to take permanent to medication. I was thinking something like diazepam to relax muscles but I'm clueless with these things. I will be interested in what others suggest.

Sorry your still having it rough with this latest flare.

Hugs.....Karry.

It is one of the WORST symptoms. For me, the only thing that helped was IVSM but boy did it help. Within a day or two I had major relief. I understand the concerns about steroids but for me they were really worth it, especially for the hug and ON. Outside of flares, I don't really have trouble with the hug, just get it mildly when I exercise a little to hard, but it passes on its own when I cool down.

I think others here may have taken Baclofen with some success. Hopefully they can jump in with feedback

Good luck, I know how miserable you must feel with it.
