When does a new symptom mean a relapse

Hi all, I have been having some arm spasticity issues for the last couple of weeks which I hadn't had previously. While the weather is cooler it is not cold and the arm that seems tobe the worst is my writing arm and I have needed to do a lot of writing at work lately (doing job interviews requires a lot of note taking).

Can anyone tell me if this is a relapse or just environmentally-related?

Thank you!
Corrie

Thanks Shell, I was dxd in April of this year and if this is an attack it will be my fourth in thirteen months.

I plan to call my neuro and see what he thinks.  The spasticity isn't too bad, more tightness and weakness but it is starting to interfere with the day to day stuff and I have another day of note taking next week.

I definitely keep track, I am a mini computer with dates and symptoms logged and this is a new one for me so it deserves extra special notation.

I saw your bumped post for those in their first year post dx. Thank you, it was extremely helpful.

Lol. I didn't feel thrown to the wolves, I promise.  My tablet does not always let me search the health pafes so your link was beyond helpful. :-)

Corriel,

Hi there - that health page is still a solid source after all this time.
I hope this is not an attack for you. Your in your first year right? Are you writing this stuff down? The first year is so hard to know what is what. I surely didn't know - especially once I added a DMD, then I really didn't know what was what, lol.

Write it, monitor it, journal journal :)
Keeping my fingers crossed no attack.

Sorry to hear that. Make sure you keep your medical team in the loop.

I also apologise if it seemed like I just shunted you over to the Health Pages rather than engaging with you personally. Really, it's just because there's such great stuff already over there that's far more informative than I can think of off the top of my head, and I don't think they're nearly easy enough to find on one's own!

From our health pages (right side of the screen), this might help shed some light. http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Multiple-Sclerosis/Relapses--Pseudo-Relapses-and-Remissions/show/372?cid=36
