cerebral tumors

My cousin just had an MRI showing a cerebral tumor.  Her symptoms and mine are eerily alike.  Should we be looking for a genetic link here, or is it most likely coincidence?  She is seeing the neurologist on Monday, and I am seeing an MS specialist one week from Monday.

The tumors were pseudotumors . . . I'm bumping this up due to tamhart's recent diagnosis.

Yes, that is a strange coincidence.

Prayers said for your cousin.   I pray that she will heal quickly.

My MRI shows lesions and LP indicate MS, so I'm not concerned about tumors in myself . . . I just find it interesting that we are both have neurological issues during the same time frame.  I do wonder how the "black hole" in MS appears on the MRI vs. a fluid filled tumor.  I'll go back and reread Quix's post on MRI's.  My cousin  just found out about the tumor and is getting in to see the neuro just days after her MRI.  The rush makes it seem urgent.

Good question.

Have you had a brain MRI?  If so, I would think that the appearance of a cerebral tumor would be different that a demyelinating plaque (but, I'm no expert obviously).

When my neuro looked at the lesion in my brain MRI films, he did comment that "the good news is that it isn't a brain tumor."

How is your cousin doing?  What is her prognosis?
