painful feet

My feet both feel like I have thin socks on. It's not numbness, exactly, but is the closest I can come to describing the sensation. I also feel like I'm walking on large rocks, expeciall when I get up in the morning, or have sat for a while. The pain is really intense. I'm just learning about this and was wondering if anybody else had these symptoms, and is there any thing that makes it better?  Thanks,  bt

I've had an elf pounding a 16 d nail into my R toe, at times, and a gremlin running a ragged knife edge across all the tips of my R toes at times.  I don't take anything for it, but I understand Neurontin can be helpful.

Have you seen your doc about this?  Tell us more about yourself.

Cheers!

Hello.

The too tight sock feeling and the feeling of walking on rocks I have had since my first attack last year.  Every once in a while it feels like my feet are vibrating.  Once in awhile I will have the ache or feel like my feet are burning or like I've step on a nail.  My left is worse than my right, though I do have the sensations in both feet. These sensations vary in intensity.  My doctor told  me that it was a common symptom of MS also put me on Gabapentin.

This is a common symptom in MS.  My left hand has felt like that glove like sensation for 4 years.  It appeared during my third MS flare.  It has never remitted since onset.  Actually it's best it feels like a glove with sand inside it.  At it's worst it feels like it's caught in a vise-grip.

I've had that walking on rocks feeling, actually more like walking on marbles mixed with shards of glass.  That came on with the same flare that caused the hand sensations, though thankfully the foot thing has remitted.

A combo of gabapentin and amitriptyline helps a little.  This kind of sensory discomfort in MS can be quite difficult to treat.

Hi

I'm from the UK and I could have written your post!  Since December 2011, I have been experiencing pain in both feet when I get up in the morning.  I find it really difficult to walk to the bathroom and walk down the stairs, but then when I start walking the pain goes away.  This can also happen when I sit for a long time and then get up.  I have increased my medication, but it hasn't helped.  I feel like a 90 year old !!! My MS nurse and GP just said it was nerve pain.

If you find a cure, please let me know !!

I didn't use it, but I too bought Athlete's Foot medicine :-) I went to put it on and realized there wasn't anything there!

I was using athlete's foot medicine daily until I figured out that there wasn't anything wrong on the skin--it just felt like something was wrong between the toes.  And sometimes gremlins stick ice picks in the soles of my feet just for kicks.

Hi bt- i'm having some issues with my feet as well. My feet can feel like I have really bad Athletes Foot; a strong burning sensation under my toes. They can also feel like someone has just droppes a bowling ball on them. Sometimes its both :-)

My doc and I are abut to start investigating remedies.
