Wow, the head bit doesn't sound right.  Perhaps you should have your gp have a look at it.  I've not heard of anything like that, but, it sounds strange.

If I tilt my head to about a ten degree angle, I could catch rain water in a little dent at the top back portion of my head.  My daughter has the same thing, but, that's just an oddity in our skull shape.  Our heads have ALWAYS been a little weird.  LOL

See the doc about the head thing.  You won't get it out of your mind 'til you do.  If it's something which needs attention, you will get it.  If it isn't, then you can put your mind at ease.

Good luck with it,

Erica

Hi, my first neuropathic pains, (the intense kind, that is, LOL) were the facial stuff, and the hug.

I had no idea what it was, just like the facial stuff, even though my neuro was treating it.  I went to my gp who listened to me for a moment, then said I needed to see my neuro.  He treated it with gabapentin.  Didn't explain what it was, as I haven't been diagnosed with ms, just said it was possibly neuropathic in nature, and to try the meds.  They helped, after a couple weeks.

Neither doc came up with any explanation.  There are no organs there, I hadn't injured myself.  And now, of course, I've been experiencing it for a cpl years, so, I would have healed if it were something tangible.

It began as a tight feeling, like my ribs were being vacuum sealed into themselves, on the right lower rib cage.  It was so excrutiating it had me screaming (quietly, of course, I'd hate to give the ppl who think I'm nuts more fodder, LOL) and in tears.  Moving to new positions only altered the sensation for a bit.  It didn't make it go away.  Pressing on it hard, helped momentarily.

It has since decided to encompass my whole lower rib cage, all the way around.  Though mostly in the front.  Sometimes I get the same banding like sensation in my upper arms, the tricep area, I think.

Sometimes it is only just discernable.  At other times unbearable.  I am not on any meds at the moment, though I have a stash of lyrica in the cupboard which I may start if I really need to.  I don't want to start any meds 'til after my ep in mid april.

It is always there, but, waxes and wanes in strength.  Right now, I can feel it, but is manageable.

Being bloated or gassy seems to make it worse, if it's already misbehaving.

The MS Hug was my initial symptom, but at the time everyone thought it was a cardiac issue.  Had the "hug" to one degree or another for a couple of months, then it would periodically get really intense - to where it would sometimes affect my breathing and sometimes make me nauseated.  So this process started with several cardiac tests, all negative, of course.

Now, I have alot of days with no pressure at all, and some spells with mild to moderate pressure.  I had my first bad episode in more than 2 months just last week - totally caught me off guard!  It got so bad I ended up in tears and called my doc for pain meds, which I've never done.  Of course, by the time I got them I didn't need them, cause it had eased up to a tolerable level.  But now I have them if I need them, like a security blanket... :)

What does it feel like when you get it and where do you feel it?  Mine is high in my chest and upper back when I get it and feels like someone is squeezing me tight - pressure.  So other than cardiac or MS, I don't know any other possibilities off the top of my head....

Sorry I don't know of any other cause of the 'hug' symptom other than MS.

I had it BAD for a couple of weeks last fall, leading up to my dx.  Once treated with SoluMedrol, it was relieved after a few days, and I haven't had it since.  At its worst, I had trouble turning over in bed and even felt it was affecting my breathing.  It is a pretty nasty symptom.

Never had what you describe as a loud click in the head.
