post LP question

Hi everyone
I posted for the first time a couple of days ago introdicing myself and asking about LP. Well I have the LP yesterday, and now I have more questions.
Let me start by saying I am not Dx, but they feel possible MS. Among the 101 things I normally experience is numbness and tingling on my left side. Since the LP this is worse. and I have pain now as well. My leg which normally feels heavy is even heavier. My senses seems to be on ultra high alert. I had no headaches at all with recovery but everything seems louder and brighter. Not to the point of a headache but aggitating.
Is this normal? could it be from the stress kind of exciting everything so to speak? Thanks for insighton this.

Hi Pansy,

I have hypersensitivities - or at least hyper reactions- to sudden sounds and lights but I don't remember them being any worse after my LP.  They do seem to agitate me more when I'm tired.

For that reason I've asked hubby not to call me from 4-6 pm unless it's urgent.  I jump a mile at the first ring and it makes me want to hurt whoever is making that phone squeal!

I nearly fell off my chair last night screaming when the weather alert signal went off at work.  I finally had to muffle the speaker.

I hope this passes for you.  I'm sure you've noticed that it isn't fun to be jolted out of a relaxed state into complete chaos.

Hi pansy,

I don't remember anyone talking about heightened senses, but it certainly could make sense.  It could also be that since the LP you are paying much closer attention to your body and picking up lots of things that were already present but you never stopped to listen to.

Our bodies are really incredibly noisy.  The hyper-sensitivity will probably quiet down, but remember I am no medical expert.   I hope this makes sense.   If the heaviness continues, be sure to notify your doctor.

Remember to drink extra fluids over the next few days to help your body replenish the CSF that was removed.

Sorry I can offer no great insight into this.

be well, Lulu

Hello,
An LP takes at least a week or two to fully recover from. I can't say what is going on. I just know it took a couple of weeks before I was back to normal after mine.
