Hi Pansy,
I have hypersensitivities - or at least hyper reactions- to sudden sounds and lights but I don't remember them being any worse after my LP. They do seem to agitate me more when I'm tired.
For that reason I've asked hubby not to call me from 4-6 pm unless it's urgent. I jump a mile at the first ring and it makes me want to hurt whoever is making that phone squeal!
I nearly fell off my chair last night screaming when the weather alert signal went off at work. I finally had to muffle the speaker.
I hope this passes for you. I'm sure you've noticed that it isn't fun to be jolted out of a relaxed state into complete chaos.
Mary
Hi pansy,
I don't remember anyone talking about heightened senses, but it certainly could make sense. It could also be that since the LP you are paying much closer attention to your body and picking up lots of things that were already present but you never stopped to listen to.
Our bodies are really incredibly noisy. The hyper-sensitivity will probably quiet down, but remember I am no medical expert. I hope this makes sense. If the heaviness continues, be sure to notify your doctor.
Remember to drink extra fluids over the next few days to help your body replenish the CSF that was removed.
Sorry I can offer no great insight into this.
be well, Lulu
Thanks for your response. The drs dont seem to tell us these types of things just lay down for 4-6 hrs and drink plenty of fluids. I apprecite this board and the info.
Hello,
An LP takes at least a week or two to fully recover from. I can't say what is going on. I just know it took a couple of weeks before I was back to normal after mine.
