Which side did your symptoms start on?

I have been curious, how many of you initially presented with symptoms on your dominant side. I am left handed and all of my symptoms began (and are still predominantly) left sided.

Mine started with my left wrist but quickly went to the right one and the majority of my weakness is on both sides but my right is worse.  I'm left handed...

I'm praying for you,
Carol

I am ambidextrous.

Was born left handed but forced to eat and write right handed as a child.

I do things like paint, hammer, sew with either hand.

My symps started on my left side. Left arm and leg weakness off /on for 2+ yrs.

Then a  sudden attack of sever numbness on left side, & head.

Now symps are  worse on left, but affecting both sides at any given time.

MS hugs around head, midriff, and left thigh daily.

What this poll seems to show is what recent studies have shown, that 10% to 14% of the population is left-handed and that symptoms very slightly favor a right-sided appearance.  I would suspect that with higher numbers of voters, the appearance of symptoms would end up more evenly divided between right and left.  My guess.

I'm pretty sure that being right-handed had nothing to do with where the lesion was in my cerebellum, or where my symptoms started.

I first presented with right side weakness - eyelid, lip, right hand, and eventually right leg.  Some of that has resolved, only to be replaced with left side weakness.

Mine started with double vision. WHAM! Welcome to MS. Prior to the double vision and being diagnosed I did have numbness and tingling in both arms and legs equally. I am right handed.

Mine started on my left and is now slowly working it's way into the right.

My first symptom was extreme vertigo; I don't think there's a sidedness to that.  If there is, I don't understand it.  Those symptoms I've had which could be sided have been hit & miss, except for the vision, which is primarily on the right side, though not exclusively.  I am right handed.

None applied to me either.  Mine started with tongue numbness followed by difficulty swallowing.  I am ambidextrious.  Thank God, because my right hand is almost useless anymore.

None of those options apply to me as my first symptom, Lhermitte's, went straight down the centre of my spine and down both legs to my feet.

I am right handed.

The first major attack I had that I know was MS was near paralysis of my right arm.  I am right handed. Started with numbness.

Most of my sx or on the right side, but so are my cspine lesions.  I do have a lot of left side sx now though.
