Is EVERYTHING ms???

Have a new neurologist.  A guy who does conferences for the local MS society.  I've been very lucky during my 'journey',   Not many problems. This new doc likes to see me every 3 months, last guy used to see me every 2 years. Now I'm staring to wonder if every ache and pain is MS related.

Currently I have a pain in my ankle.  It happens every few months.  I do a lot of exercising, so I could just be spraining and re-spraining my ankle.

Do I mention the pain to the new doc?  Or do I just deal with it myself?

EVERYTHING can't be MS.  I don't want to give in to this darn disease.

Thanks all. Needed a reality check. I'm 50 and the ankle is probably just my old bones rebelling against exercise.

And thanks for the chuckle --- needed that too!

Hi Nancy,

I go through the same thing!  I`m always wondering, is this the MS - AGAIN?  A few weeks ago I was so tired I could barely move, everytime I sat down I had to fight to stay awake.  I was so depressed thinking "well, this is just MS, I'll have to deal with it".  It turned out it was a medication I was taking for pain.  I forgot to take it one night and suddently started to feel like myself again.  It was a good reminder for me that although MS is horrible, it's not always the culprit!

It would be so nice if I could blame all my aches and pains on my MS but that would be the easy explanation. I'm not sure of your age, but I am at that point that my body has seen a lot of miles and things just begin to wear out.

I understand exactly what you are saying here. I'm guessing your ankle is from something other than your MS. This is where having a good team of doctors is important.  This is the type of complaint that should probably be seen by someone else.

Since you see this new neurologist so frequently, I wouldn't hesitate to mention any and all of your concerns and let the doctor sort it out.

You're not the type to give in, are you?  Don't let your MS take over everything you have going for you.

hang in there,
Lulu
