where are my feet?

Just since last week, when I'm walking, I feel like I am not sure where my feet are, or what I'm walking on.....it's very odd. I still have feeling there, just this YIKES feeling, and I have to look down to see where I am standing, on what etc. Also at the shops I went to get on an escalator (those moving stairs) and that took ages and I kept stumbling...

Would that be legs or my favourite thing, my balance, throwing me out of whack? Both? And Why do these things keep appearing so rapidly lately? *sigh*

it's very weird, and quite disconcerting....

On a day to day basis, this is a mild symptom for me.  During a flare it gets worse, and if I'm walking in the heat.

I don't know where my feet are, either. I did write up a little bit about proprioception for my own benefit at http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Multiple-Sclerosis/proprioception-issue/show/1192965#post_5491795 which you might find helpful.

Sorry I can't be of help with your other question. My stuff kind of just fluctuates from day-to-day and trends downward with no clear exacerbations. I think a pseudo-exacerbation has to be caused by some temporary external factor like heat or a fever, though. I think you're also technically supposed to be stable for a month before you can have a new exacerbation.

I think i could feel my feet.......I can feel them fine today. The sensation has passed (mind you, I haven't been wandering around outside yet today)

I am SO confused - is that sort of thing a relapse? An exacerbation? A pseudo-exacerbation?  How the *far out *  are we supposed to tell??

Though one sort of cool thing about that is I feel a little bit like Dr Who (for any Sci-Fi nuts) having a bit of a glitch in time and space....HA

It does sound like proprioception.  Are the bottoms of your feet numb too?

Yes, I have this, too.  It's proprioception, I believe.  Knowing where your body (or parts of it) are in space.  Funny, it's never shown up when I'm at the neuro, but I have days/weeks where I don't know where my feet are.  (They're where they're supposed to be right now, for me, though!)

It was the very first sign of MS for me.  I couldn't tell where my feet where on a ladder.  It then went to not being able to move for a few minutes.  Scary!!
