I have taken several videos of the activity and we have gone to an ENT but she said she can't imagine what it could be :( She recommended a swallow study and a feeding eval. We had a swallow study done but it was inconclusive. Drinking doesn't trigger anything just eating-whether its hot or cold. Also recently, first thing in the morning, when he wakes up and he is swallowing repeatedly as if his throat is dry, he has the drops too. We are waiting to schedule a feeding eval at UNC. Its VERY hard to watch him suffer like this. I will keep you posted.
Hi. If your observation is that your son has a seizure "everytime" he eats, it would be safe to say it's a trigger.
Have you taken a video of the seizure activity? Has anyone taken a look down his throat? Perhaps he should see an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist. That's where I would take him. Does it seem to make a difference if he's eating hot or cold foods?
Does drinking liquids bring on the seizure? Or just solid foods?
This must be very difficult for him, and you. Eating is essential, obviously, and avoiding food to avoid a seizure would be problematic.
Keep us posted. I would be interested to know if an ENT has a different perspective.
Take care.
