I have just had an abnormal CT, here is my story:
I went to the GP last Thursday and it was mainly to get referrals for my daughters specialists etc.
While there I was telling the Dr I had been having migraines over my right eye and up over half my head for the past year, felt tired, dizzy and for the past 2 months nauseas on/off (and no I am not preggers!)
So he said to me I think you need to have a scan and I said really, he said yes just to be sure and so he ordered me to have CT scan. I was just thinking he was being very thorough. I thought I should tell him I had a Hematoma removed when I was 14 that was between my skull and skin. It was removed while in the chair at the Dr's under a local. It was as a result of being in my friends car when she had a car accident.
So today I had it and while waiting the 1.5 hours for report/films, the lady who did the scan came out and said "Mrs Clark we need you to come and have another CT with IV contrast as the Dr has found something not quite right."
I went in and I was almost having a panic attack, thinking I don't have time to be sick, I have 2 young girls to look after, one of which already has numerous medical conditions from birth!
So had 2nd CT scan and waited for report/films again, this time only another 10mins. When I left I opened them up and it said there is a 2cm lesion seen within the frontal lobe involving the cortex and deep white matter and recommended an MRI to see if there were any underlying factors.
So went back to the GP and got the MRI referral which I am having next Monday 6th, so really hope all will be ok. Really hope it is nothing. But, I am quietly freaking out!
I am just thinking the fact they havent rushed me off for a mri sooner than next week, that it isnt too bad??
My midline of brain has not shifted, which I assume is good news if there was a tumor/cyst there?
I have also been told it will take up to 1 week to get report from MRI, i don't think i can wait that long?
Hello.
A brain lesion is a general term used to describe any abnormal finding in the brain. It could be due to lack of blood supply, bleeding, tumor, demyelination as seen in Multiple Sclerosis and some other diseases and some other types of lesions.
Would you like to share any of your symptoms here ?
