Nine years ago I had something happen to me. My pituitary gland was failing, which I didn’t know at the time. I was an emotional wreck & took Lexapro for about a week. I woke up feeling as if my body was on fire. The burning died down but didn’t go away. A few weeks later I awoke with pain through my entire body. Muscle pain, burning nerve pain, muscle twitches in my legs. The pain felt like it was amplified. It was beyond normal pain. Also, the sensation of my heartbeat was amplified as well. It was bizarre. Like the nerves were amplifying internal sensation. Goosebumps felt like mountains rising out of my skin. It lasted 5 months before it felt like someone turned the dial down. I still had pain, but it was more tolerable and went away after a few months. I didn’t know why it happened. I was left with some parenthesis. Now it started again after 9 years in January. I took Wellbutrin for one day, decided not to, then took a weekly pituitary med two days later, which also raises dopamine. For the next two days it felt like head tremors when I would start to fall asleep. The only time I’d ever felt that was last time this happened. Then on 1/6 I awoke to the same thing - amplified heartbeat sensation, burning nerve pain in my chest & throughout my body, muscle twitches in my legs. I’m thinking the meds were too stimulating & for some reason amped up my nervous system. I’m really scared. Some days my nerves are burning through my whole body. I don’t have neuropathy & before this didn’t have any issues with activity or movement. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this. Do you think it will go back to normal again? My normal? Screening for structural neuro diseases were normal. I’ve always had strange things happen that seemed neurological since I was 17. If you don’t fit into one of the boxes, doctors don’t bother trying to figure anything out. I’m very scared it won’t go away. Do you think the nervous system goes back to a baseline?
