Facial Numbness/Pins & Needles

For the last 2 months, I've been getting (on and off) pins and needles in my face. At first I noticed it happening, more around the T zone and upper lip. But more recently, it has progressed to all over my face (especially around my cheeks). Sometimes lasting up to, an hour, but sometimes it takes 3 hours for it to fully pass. I also get tingling and irregular muscle spasms in my eyes - mainly my right eye though. My Doctor has referred me to see a Neurologist for some sort of Neuro test/examination and screening of some kind, which I think, may be something, like an MRI? Not sure on that one though... Will just have to wait and see, once my appointment finally comes up at the end on this month.

I guess my question(s) is; has anyone experienced, these (specific) types of symptoms? What could it be a symptom of? Has anyone on here had the same test for this?

I mean, I don't want to over-worry or anything, just keeping positive and trying not to think about it too much - but it would be helpful to have a bit of insight on this matter.

I've experienced exactly what you are experiencing and still do. It was also about 2 months ago. It just started out of the blue. It also began with some eye-twitching especially on the right side. It has now progressed to my limbs. I've had an MRI to rule out MS. It came out negative. My doctor found that I was vitamin D deficient and put me on D3. For the first 2 weeks after starting D3 I was symptoms free but unfortunately they have returned. I am going out of my mind. I've been ready abou transdermal magnesium therapy as I found out that many abnormal people experience maybe from magnesium deficiency. However, oral magnesium, other than giving you the runs, is not effective. It is harmless so I have ordered a bottle and will be trying it. One excellent site is www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/magnesium.htm. I also found out that not all transdermal magnesium products are created equal. Some of them are brines.

I am still taking D3 and sometimes it helps a little sometimes it doesn't. D is fat soluble so you really need to make sure that you need it. Ask your doctor to do a blood test.

Good luck.

Hi - I don't have any answers, sorry, but thought I'd at least acknowledge what you said, and say that I have similar symptoms I'm still also waiting to have diagnosed. I know how frustrating it can be! I have been having numbness and tingling in my face off and on for a couple of years, but most recently also had what are probably minor strokes that affected my legs and arms a tiny bit. The facial stuff is really weird, though - even my eyeballs feel like they're numb!

Hopefully, we'll both get an answer here soon. Easier said than done I know, but try to not worry. And you might check out nutritional deficiencies.

Also, just thought I'd mention, that there are Nil triggering factors. Still the same weight, no rapid change in diet, no change in medication etc. Just a little concerned, so if anyone has any advise or opinions, it would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!
