Is it M.S.?

Hello, I am a 37 year old female...5'2" 120 lbs. of Hispanic/Caucasian ethnicity. Approximately at the beginning of November of 2008 I began to feel very dizzy at times and then had the sensation of "bugs jumping" on the left side of my face. After that my left leg was constantly tingling and felt as though there was a nerve being pinched down the back of it. The thumb on my left hand was so sensitive that I had to wear a brace so that I didn't accidentally bump it or catch it on anything. The final straw was that the left side of my lips (along with my face) and my left arm had numbness and tingling sensation when I finally went to see a doctor.

I had been keeping a journal as I have seen to do on talk shows, but when I presented this they looked at me like I was crazy. Through the months of December and January I went to my PCP on three different occassions, had two blood panels ordered and completed, had chest x-rays (all of which came back normal) and then was sent to a neurologist. In the initial exam, he told me it wasn't in my head and said that he witnessed "spastic reflexes" in my leg and arm. Then he ordered a brain MRI.

The MRI came back clean...he spent all of two minutes with me and said to come back in 6 months. I was a little flustered. (Not because he said it wasn't M.S. but because he wasn't telling me what it WAS) In the beginning of February, most of the symptoms just started to disappear...and now all that is left are muscle twitches.

I am afraid they will come back, but I don't want to have another doctor look at me like I am crazy again...

Any recommendations?

I was actually just reading sting's post...I hadn't heard of the romberg signs...but that is what was happening to me in the shower. When I would wash my hair I would close my eyes and go to rinse noticing that I would almost always be surprised by bumping into the wall with my elbow.

I then tested myself outside of the shower, and noticed that when I stood like that outside of the shower and closed my eyes the same thing would happen with tilting and swaying.

What is this indicative of?

I was tested for everything from my B12 to Syphilis (which I thought was crazy since I have been married for almost 17 years...but they said it was standard with any of these symptoms). All blood work...TWO PANELS...came back clean.

Have you had your vitamin B12 levels tested or any other lab work done? I'd suggest having your doctors test that, and if the symptoms continue, you need to find a new doctor/neurologist. Do not give up!
