Always happens when sleeping.  Awake with tingling sensation in leg, one or the other, then proceeds to go inwards, sometimes cold sensation until I am completely paralyzed with extreme pain, extremities shaking.  Feels like what I would expect it would feel like if I was elecrocuted.  Fully alert throughout event.  Usually lasts 15 to 30 seconds but last night lasted a couple minutes.  9-1-1 called but could not find a cause.

Hello.

I think you should also ask for an EEG (Electroencephalogram). It may not be a seizure, but a past history of stroke does predispose you for a seizure.

Please keep me updated about your MRI.

In December I had a minor stroke. MRI showed 3 signs of stroke and 1 what radiologist described as a peculiar lesion at brainstem which they are still working up, possible MS.  I am going today for another MRI of brain and spine.  When I called the neurologist after the first time an episode like this happened he thought it was probably muscular, which I am convinced it is neurological.

Hello.

Have you thought of seizure ? This could be a partial seizure, which you need to rule out by visiting a Neurologist and getting an EEG done.

Do you have any history of seizure in the past ? And any head injury ?
