Kidney Function

What does it mean when you are told that your kidneys are functioning at 45%?  What causes this?

Thank you for your answer.  I do have an appt with a doctor and I am sure that I will have further testing.

High Blood Pressure, Chronic Diabetes are most common causes in your adult like after you had normal functioning kidneys for decades!

There are many other causes and i can only comment after you do some specific kidney function tests, scans etc.
