Mother's reports

Hi,

need help.
we did a MRI and CT scan for my mother.
the doctors haven't visited for 2 days after requesting the scans.
can you pls explain what the following means.

MRI of Brain and MR Angiography reports.
- Patchy acute infarcts in right fronto -  parietal lobes and shows restricted diffusion.
-  There is no hemorrhage.
-  old infarct in left caudate nucleus.
-  Multiple Chronic ischaemic foci bilateral cerebral white matter.

MR Angiography -
- Eccentric plaque in left cervical carotid artery origin causing mild narrowing.

MDCT scan of BRAIN.
- Patchy acute infarcts in right fronto -  parietal subcortical white matter.
-  Old Lacunar infarcts in left caudate uncles.
-  There is no hemmorrhage.


The Random Blood sugar level is level is 133.0 mg/  dl.

She is 60 yes old.

Hey Mihir!

The MRI describes multiple small areas of recent (acute) infarction (tissue decay due to reduced blood supply), no evidence of bleeding (haemorrhage) and multiple long sanding areas of reduced blood supply (ischaemia).
            The angiography describes a plaque in one of the main arteries supplying the brain (carotid). This is a risk factor for the development of stroke since the plaque could dislodge causing embolism and ischemia.
         I would suggest discussing the situation and the appropriate management plan with his treating doctor when you meet him/her next or with one of the team members.
