Hello, all. I'm new on here, so please bare with me.
I'm going to explain this as best as I can, in hopes that I'm not alone and someone else out there is going through this as well.
I frequently experience what I call "brain zaps" or "brain zings." Very hard to describe, but it feels like my whole brain shocks (maybe like a brain freeze?) for 1 second. It's not like an electric shock and is not painful, but more of a dizzy shock, if that makes sense?
Again, it is not painful; but when it happens, for that 1 second, it makes me freeze and have a "spaced-out" feeling.
The episodes never last more than a second, and I don't have any other significant symptoms. They usually occur when I'm not doing anything active, such as sitting at my desk at work, or laying in bed resting. They come on very abrupt, without notice and infrequently.
I had an MRI of my brain 5 months ago (with and without contrast) which came back clear/normal. I've also seen a Cardiologist and did testing such as an exercise stress test, echocardiogram and a 24-hour holter monitor study. All came back clear/normal, except for the 24-hour holter monitor which showed a few premature atrial contractions, but the doctor said they were benign.
I am currently not taking any medication and do not have any vitamin deficiencies.
Does anyone else experience these (or have in the past), seen a doctor and got some answers? I am seeing another Neurologist in 2 weeks for a second opinion, but until then, I'd love to hear from you all!
Thank you :)
