Thank you Dr. for the response. I do have all those symptoms especially as of late, chill sensations. I have had two EMG's , first on came back abnormal and second one was normal. That's all I could get from my Drs. Could there be a reason for one to be normal and the other abnormal? Does it just depend on who does the testing and reads the results?
I have also had extensive bloodwork done everything was good except my muscle enzymes were slightly elevated. Which means there could be muscle damage as well, correct?
Thank you for your question. In small fibre neuropathy, pathology is associated with nerve fibres carrying pain and temperature sensations. Hence main symptoms are insensitivity to heat or cold. Other symptoms could be numbness, tingling, pain and muscle weakness like other neuropathies. Nerve conduction test and EMG are main diagnostic investigation to see the extent of disorder. It is sad to say that there is no permanent cure, although intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and plasmapheresis may provide some relief in your symptoms. Hope this helps.
