Visual Disturbances

about 4 years ago I got admitted to the mental health unit in Vinceness, IN.The reasons for that was because for weeks I thought I had a brain tumor. I thought I had most of the symptoms, and all I would do all day is read symptoms online, and ask medical questions on various forums. The main reason of me freaking out was because all of a sudden a feeling I've never experienced happened to me. I've never been able to properly explain it to anyone, but it seemed like something was blocking my realism, as if I were foggy headed, or I wasn't quite observant. Before getting admitted, I went through the ER. There they gave me a CT Scan, and everything came back normal. The ER doctor said I simply had sinus problems. The next week while at the hospital, they had run several blood tests as well as a MRI which my psychiatrist had me get because my pupils were uneven. And again, the MRI test came back normal. But a symptom I had then, and still do have today (a symptom I even had 2 years before my brain tumor freakout), is an eye problem, but is neurological related. All this time I thought it was double vision, but doing some research, I found someone with the same issue who even posted an example image, and this is what I experience daily: http://i.epvpimg.com/YyyAg.jpg
Also if I put out my hand, and make an arc with my hand, there is a trail behind it. Even if I'm looking at a small light for example, I'll look left and right (always keeping the light in my center vision) and I'll see a streak of the light through my vision. So still today those 2 eye symptoms I have, I don't have any idea what those could be caused from. I'm wondering if it could be caused from my anxiety, or some sort of mental disorder. Hopefully this gives you some insight on what's causing this issue.

You should ask the eye doctor if you need to wear any special lenses to help with your astigmatism as this is now bothersome for you.

Astigmatism is an eye condition that is the result of an irregularly-shaped cornea or an abnormal curvature of the lens inside the eye.  Some people are born with this condition.  I can't understand why you were told that you have 8!

I am not sure if your eye doctor is the same as an optician or ophthalmologist.  The eye doctor may only be interested in diseases of the eye and not in corrected vision.

If you have astigmatism, it is highly likely that you are short sighted  or long sighted and in that case your optician will be able to find out which corrective lenses you need for each eye and it is highly likely that you will need a pair of glasses to correct your vision.

Have you been to see an ophthalmologist or optician?

With regard to your vision, it would be a good idea to get your eyes checked out to see if you need any spectacles.

It is not uncommon for people to worry about their health and obsess that they have a condition - this is called hypochondria.

I couldn't make out what you mean with regard to the photo that you posted, but the letters are out of focus.  If you see things like that, then the optician will be able to tell you which strength of lenses you need.
Now don't forget each eye can be different.

With regards seeing the lights and tails on lights, again the optician/ophthalmologist will examine your eyes thoroughly and will be able to detect any abnormalities if there is any.

Make an appointment to get your eyes checked out very soon.
Let me know how you get on.

Nothing you have stated (you seem fairly rational) suggests that you have a mental disorder.
