my daughters story

my daughter was taken to the er. by ambulance for a seziure which she had never had before. the er doctor told us it was not menningitis but sezure disorder and releasedher. we then took her to the clinic as she was not feeling any better and were told it was just a flu. again she was taken by ambulance to the er at another hospital where a lumbar puncture was performed and concluded she had viral menngitis as well as herpes simplex enephalitis. The doctors were hopefull that she responded to the medication but 3 days later she went into cardiac arrest and died the following day my daughter was only 21. My question is does treatment time make adifference on your chances of recovery? please help me find this answer

Thank you so much for taking your time to read and respond to my question about my daughters treatment. I dont understand why she was not given a Lumbar puncture at the first er. visit or at the clinic. Do you read hospital records or give causation reports. As My question now is why this procedure was not performed earilier.
Again I Thank YOu

Hi,

I am extremely sorry to hear about your young daughter.
Yes the earlier the treatment is started the better the results especially so if it is a case of meningitis. Any patient who is complaining of unexplained neurological symptoms like seizures should undergo LP to rule out the possibility of meningitis.
This should be done in young people who are particularly vulnerable to meningitis. The reason for cardiac arrest is brain edema.
Hope this information will help you.
