off balance

Dear all,

In November I suffered a blow to my head when someone hit me when I was on my bicycle- I do not recall what happened and at the hospital they told me I suffered an orbital fracture to the right side of my head which would heal in six months. however for the last 2months I my right leg kind of twitches, the right side of my temple feels very strange when I touch both sides of my temple. The most disturbing thing for me is that when I walk I feel kind off balance which makes me feel as if I cannot walk properly or am walking strange. This has led to me feeling unconfident walking around alone. Even as I blink its almost as if its a flash. the off balance walk bothers me the most as it makes me feel very shy and awkward when people are approaching me as I walk don the street.

Please if anyone can tell me if this may be due to the accident or not because I was never ever like this. my hands are also shaky of late

Hi, Thank you for your question. Generally, such symptoms and off balance may result due to post head injury and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury. In addition, patient may experience either migraine type or tension type headache. For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain abnormalities after that injury. Treatment commonly may be suggested for headaches such as pain killers, some antidepressants, physical therapy and regular exercises. If you suffer continuous headache, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here and can provide you an appropriate treatment. Further referral to a psychologist may be also helpful in order to treat usual anxiety or depression after such injuries (sometimes one may have) that may be one of the aggravating factors for persistent headache. Hope this information proves helpful to you. Take Care & Regards!!!
